GNOME-one Does Box Dies For Stampendous Gnome Homes Like Eileen Hull!

Welcome to another day on our hop with Eileen Hull’s team using her Vintage Canister Scoreboard die with our Cottage Home and Mushroom Home sets as we take a stroll Along the Garden Path. Sit back and enjoy projects from the designers participating in today’s hop.

Three lucky winners will win their choice of Cottage Home or Mushroom Home plus precut matboard from the Sizzix Canister Scoreboard Die. Sponsored by Sizzix. Deadline to comment is February 28th. See Official Contest Rules for details.

Here's what I've created for our grand finale...

If you visited my blog yesterday, then you've seen the toadstool house with the purple roof (which is a stash spot for Hershey's Kisses!). Today I've added two additional gnome homes, along with a display for them all. Remember the one below was constructed with Eileen Hull's large matboard boxes, which I've covered in machine-embossed die cut pieces of Core'dinations® cardstock, using the Dreamweaver Chevron Stencil and the Honeycomb stencil. They were die cut and stamped with the new Stampendous Toadstool Home sets.

This tiny little house was created with a small box matboard die, with stamped accents from the Toadstool Home sets and the Cottage Home sets. For the roof I just punched small circles and layered them for shingles on the "roof". The heart "chimney" was a stamped matboard die that was generously in our design team packages from Eileen Hull for this collaborative hop.

The final house was created from a medium matboard box, covered in a golden cardstock, machine-embossed with the Dreamweaver Stone Wall stencil, and brushed with ink to highlight the raised design. Windows and doors were stamped, cut out, and adhered as with the previous two houses, and colored a bit with Sakura® Gelly Roll Flourescent pens. The die cut roof was die cut from the Cottage Home set, and machine-embossed with the Dreamweaver Large Scales stencil, and also brushed with ink.

For display purposes, I used a unfinished wooden frame from a local big box craft store, which I stained with Ranger Distress Stains by Tim Holtz. Moss was adhered on the little houses, as well as this frame, and jute cording was wrapped and adhered over the frame for a more rustic look.

I inserted a panel of cardstock and a piece of glass within the frame, and placed many of my collection of tiny pebbles and stones. I like how this display turned out as it makes a more cohesive, "I-meant-to-do-that" look, especially with coordinating colors of the cardstock. This way, tiny surprises can be added to each box, and still be something wonderful to share when the treats are gone!

Chilly and Quick-Change Artist

Do any of you remember this little project that I did a little over a year ago for my guest bathroom? The walls in that bath are painted a beige/mocha color which was very popular until recently. Nowadays the "neutral d' jour" seems to be in the gray realm, which I really like. I. HATE. TO. PAINT! (Except on canvas.) So rather than paint the bathroom, I chose to find a way to bring in the gray in a way that will still coordinate with this light mocha color. I found a shower curtain with white, beige, blue-gray, and gray in it, along with patterned towels in those colors. The frame that I had purchased (above) is a slate-blue-gray color, with a beige linen matting. Originally I had decorated it with die cuts of the Dreamweaver Stylized Dahlia design from a pad of DCWV Gauze paper, layered. Great for the rest of the year, but not for the holidays, and especially not when we were having a holiday party. So...this is what I did...

I went with a vintagey winter theme with silver and gold and the blue-gray, lots of sparkle as you can see in the pictures above and below. I changed out the inserts of the frame with machine-embossed panels of Core'dinations cardstock in beige, sanded, and brushed with silver Delicata ink from Tsukineko®, paste-embossed Dreamweaver Antler Snowflakes on Stampendous die cut Snowflakes in gold paste and Gold Halo Glitter. The center panel was a soft blue-gray panel, paste-embossed in silver using the Dreamweaver Leafless Tree, and covered in Silver Halo Glitter. At the base was Versamark ink daubed on and covered with Stampendous Sparkle Puff Embossing Powder, and a sprinkling of Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel heated from underneath for "snow".

A super simple project, and so beautiful to see in person. Below is a pic of the opposite wall decorated in the same colors, with the same winter theme.

Sugarplum Wishes and Angel Kisses for Dreamweaver Thursday

The team has been busy this week with the Patty PopOns hop, and our weekly challenge of "Sugarplum Dreams and Angel Kisses". Now it's Dreamweaver Thursday, so I think you can guess just what challenge I went for today! I created this card for our July catalog where this lovely "Standing Angel" stencil was introduced to the Stampendous product line. I think she is so elegant, so I simply pasted her in silver on a panel of Core'dinations glitter cardstock. The card base was the same cardstock, but machine embossed on the front with the "Crusade Background" design. Teal aluminum was also machine-embossed with the same design, but without the embossing mat, so the design is there, but smooth. The center of the design was traced out, and metalworking tools were used to emphasize the embossing in that area...a paper stump, a large ball tool, a Teflon tool, and a decorative edge wheel for a more finished look. Now the center section could be sanded to reveal the design more intricately.

You can tell easily what my team members are playing with this week, so go for a look-see!

Wobbling Again with Dreamweaver and Action Wobbles

AWBanner

I seriously challenged myself this week to incorporate the Action Wobble with Dreamweaver Thursday, and mix in "the fat man with the beard". How did I do? First, I used the Dreamweaver Santa stencil, machine embossed twice on Core'dinations' Chalk Core Red cardstock. The embossed areas were sanded to reveal the design in a chalk board fashion. I added a panel of red Core'dinations which I machine-embossed using the Dreamweaver Stripe/Plaid stencil before sanding to reveal the plaid design.

And then I added the Action Wobble...

I cut out the second Santa head...

Adhered the self-adhesive gadget, and...

So. Much. Fun!

Dreamweaver Thursday: Falling in Love with Fall

I really do firmly believe that Stampendous and Dreamweaver were a match made in heaven. You might even say that the two product lines meld together beautifully. How else could you take the Dreamweaver die cut Treeline design, and have this kind of shimmer and shine? It's so simple to do...just coat the die cut design with VersaMark ink by Tsukineko®, pour on several colors of Fran•tagé Embossing Enamels, and heat to melt. Since we have a fall challenge going on this week on the Stampendous Blog, I chose to go with colors that suit the season...Aged Spice, Aged Copper, Aged Hunter, Aged Teal, and the Seasonings blend. The result is so gorgeous, that you really need nothing more than popping it up over yummy colors of cardstock from Bazzill Basics® and Core'dinations®. I love the sentiment that I chose to add to my card, the Cling Friendship Tree, and a few sprinkles more of the enamels, heated from underneath, were the perfect finish.

Dreamweaver Thursday: If You Can Haunt It...Flaunt It!

One of my favorite things to do is to create a mood in my designwork. I was going for "Dead men tell no tales" with this card. Everything is edgy and distressed, with a stormy feel to it, and this is how it was done...

The base of the card is Core'dinations black with a gray core, which has been run through my Big Shot machine with the Dreamweaver I Beams stencil. Using the Core'dinations sanding block, I went over the embossed areas to reveal the design, and sanded more areas and around the edges as well...particularly where I wanted to stamp the sentiment from the Perfectly Clear Tricky Words set.

I stamped the Cling Raven Skull image with Versamark ink on the card base, and embossed it with Aged Black Embossing Enamel. I used a white paint marker to color in the skull, and then went to work on the focal panel.

I used the Tombow Zero Drawing technique and Mono products to cover a panel of Canson textured paper with graphite. I placed the Dreamweaver Clipper Ship over the surface, and erased the areas within the design. I also erased areas around the scalloped edge of the Picasso tool to create my cloudy sky. After this, I replaced the stencil, and using the Tombow Recycled Colored Pencils, I added color to the frigate, the waves, and a bit the guiding light of the moon through the clouds. I daubed Tuxedo Black Memento ink around the edges, and tore two sides. Once again, I stamped the Raven Skull off the edge of the focal panel, and embossed with Aged Black, and colored the skull cap white, so that the parts would match up.

Using Translucent Embossing Paste, I paste-embossed the DW Rain stencil across the panel, and set it aside to dry. Once dry, more Aged Black was sprinkled and heated from underneath to add texture. The panel was then adhered to an ink-distressed and torn yellow panel, and then to the card base. Beacon Adhesives Tacky Glue was applied to add sprinkles of Marine Blue and Trick or Treat Color Fragments to bring the whole design together.

"Popping Up" to Create Some Christmas Fun!

Have you learned a bazillion ways to Create Christmas with the new Jumbo Stamps and Dies from Stampendous? We have a few more for you today!

I've created a Pop Up Christmas card using the Pop Up Dies set. This enabled me to add more dimension and fun to the card. The images were stamped and die cut. I used the edge of my palette knife to dab some Dreamweaver Regular Embossing Paste along each layer of the tree. I sprinkled the wet paste heavily with Stampendous' new Sparkle Puff Embossing Powder, and heated the whole thing. Now it's puffy and sparkly and snowy! For the inside base I ink stenciled the Dreamweaver Holiday Greetings design. Then I paste-embossed just sentiment portion on contrasting cardstock, and sprinkled it with the Sparkle Puff as well. A stamped and die cut star was layered using green and glitter white cardstock from Core'dinations, and adhered to the very top pop up tab of my pretty plaid paper. I stamped words and ink distressed a section of flag trim with the Stampendous Perfectly Clear Joyful Phrases. All of the same images, sentiments, embossing powders, and stencils were used to decorate the front of the card as well. The Pop Up cards make such an impact and display for the holidays...or any time of the year.

More creative Christmas fun coming your way...

Dreamweaver Thursday: Creating Christmas with Dreamweaver

Mixing up some fun for Dreamweaver Thursday by adding the new Stampendous Create Christmas stamp set and dies, and jazzing it up a bit with the Dreamweaver Christmas Borders Embossing Folder.

The large tree was stamped in black on Core'dinations White Glitter Silk cardstock, and die cut, along with one cardinal on red cardstock and die cut as well.

I ran a panel of Chalk Core blue from Core'dinations through my Big Shot pro machine with the Christmas Borders Embossing Folder, and used their sanding block to highlight the embossed design for my background pattern.

I swiped Cyan VersaColor ink from Tsukineko® over the inside of the same embossing folder, and placed the tree inside, and embossed this as well. This presses the ink into the surface, highlighting the embossed design.

I used one of the Joyful Phrases sentiments stamped on the card, matted the Chalk Core panel in white, and using a Cyan VersaColor cube, I colored the black and white Chevron ribbon from May Arts to match. This was adhered behind the tree. The final touch was the bright pop of my red cardinal.

Any of these new Jumbo designs can be stenciled or embossed with the Dreamweaver designs, either in stencil form or embossing folders. A quick way to create something special.

Pretty Poinsettias Week with a Vintage Twist

This week the Stampendous team are featuring Poinsettias, providing you with another opportunity to start planning your holiday cards for this year!

My card features the Dreamweaver Large Poinsettia stencil, done in a modified version of the Double Glitter technique...instead of using all glitter, I've used gorgeous Copper Micro Glitter for the background, and Stampendous Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel for the poinsettia. Going along with the vintage vibe, the base card is a tan Core'dinations cardstock, machine-embossed with the Dreamweaver Damask background stencil, and sanded to reveal the design. The sentiment was also embossed in the Shabby White. Small dots of glue, sprinkled with Stamnpendous Mahogany glitter were added to the center, and the pin holding the May Arts ribbon bow, was also covered with the same glitter.
