Stampendous and Dreamweaver: Summer Fun Day Three

It's fun in the sun time again with another collaboration between Stampendous and Dreamweaver Stencils! We'll be playing together all of this week, with a fabulous hop on Friday, August 2nd, featuring a slew of amazing talent from both teams, and of course...prizes!!!

 Here's what I created:

You know the expression, "A clean desk is a sign of a sick mind"? Well, I kind of feel the same when it comes to my crafty projects. Sometimes a splatter is a good thing! My card today features the re-released Splatter stencil from Dreamweaver, Regular Embossing Pasted over a white cardstock panel, and covered with piles of Stampendous Color Fragments in all their new Hot colors...orange, pink, lime, and blue, plus some of their new Micro glitters to cover the bare spots and add sparkle! I used a palette knife to spread Regular Embossing Paste down a white cardstock strip before covering with bands of more Color Fragments...pressing on them with the palette knife help to flatten them down a bit. I stamped and embossed in Stampendous Midnight Black embossing powder the Life is Art Cling stamp to layer over the top. An old paintbrush dipped in Matte Orange Embossing Paste and sprinkled with Micro Orange glitter finished off my work of heart!

Woodware UK: And a One and a Two and a Three!

Once again, the Woodware UK team are joining up with the Crafty Cardmakers for a challenge. This time the challenge is 1 - 2 - 3! One focal image, two patterned papers, and  three embellishments!

My focal image is the Stampendous Cling Violets which I stamped and colored with markers over a background paper stamped with the Cling Decorative Grate which seems to give it a tapestry appearance. A green striped paper is adhered to the kraft card, and my three embellishments? Adhesive backed lace, thin yellow ribbon, and purple brad fasteners. Oh, and don't tell anyone...I cheated a bit and added a banner sentiment from Stampendous!

 Here's what I created:

I created this Country Clipboard with plenty of fun stuff from both companies...the re-released Weather Vane Rooster stencil and the Lower Case Alphabet, both paste-embossed, and Dreamweaver's Memories Mists sprays in Pale Ale and Amaretto for the aged and stained look. On a panel of spray-aged cardstock, I stamped the Stampendous Cling Orange Blossom, and colored it with my Copic markers. The pocket was created from a kraft envelope, and stamped with the Cling Seed Background. Some May Arts twine and gingham ribbon with various embellies finished off this fun project.

 Here's what I created:

Featuring the re-release of the Oi Oi Fish stencil, I sprayed a resist medium over my stencil, and transferred it to my glossy cardstock. When dry, I rubbed Memento Dewdrop inks over the surface. I used the new Dreamweaver Leafless Tree DIE to create the coral branches in the front, and it's counterpart in stencils to emboss the background on Core'dinations cardstock. The card base was machine embossed using various Dreamweaver shell designs, and brushed with ink, before stamping the Stampendous Breathe sentiment.

I added a swathe of May Arts Loose Braid trim as leafy seaweed across the card, and adhered a sprinkling of Stampendous Color Fragments in Fluorescent Orange and Teal for added color and texture.

Dreamweaver Stencils: Polka Dot Daisies for Summer?

Are you having a fabulous summer? The Dream Team sure is! All this month we've been posting creations with our "Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more", which pretty much covers any of your favorite past-times in the summer. One of my favorites is watching all of the flowers blooming, and daisies are the perfect summer flower! Especially if they come in purple with white polka dots! Lol.

I had so much fun paper piecing this card with scraps of patterned papers and the new Shasta Daisies stencil. For extra texture, I embossed two of the panels with the Hexagons stencil...hugely trendy right now! Everything was layered on a Bazzill Dotted Swiss card base, and a fun epoxy sticker sentiment finishes it off!

Woodware UK: Getting a Bit Punchy

How long has it been since you've got a bit punchy? Not that kind of punchy, but hauled out your punches and played? The Woodware UK team are doing just that this week. Considering just how many punches Woodware carries, it could be a difficult selection to choose just one or two. My choice? The two Super Duper Heart punches...one plain and the other scalloped. Ordinarily, most would use these two to create a sappy Valentine card, with the scalloped heart in white, and the inside heart in red or pink. Not me, but then you knew that, didn't you?

My card features Francoisé Read's Huge Happy Birthday Clear Magic design for Woodware UK, stamped on fun papers from g•c•d Studio's Daydream Ensemble. First on the main panel. Second on the punched heart. Third on the blue reverse side of one of the papers to match the scalloped heart. I did add a bit of coloring and shading with markers to make the design pop out a bit more. The extra letters were cut out, shaded and paper pieced to the heart. The layered piece was adhered to the main panel. A little bit of green ric rac from Woodware, and I'm done. A fun birthday card, created with fun images, and a bit punchy!

Woodware UK: The Great Outdoors (Mind You, A Moose-bite Can Be Nasty!)

Sorry. I just could not resist the added funny. If you can name the movie that quote came from, add it to your comment below!

The Woodware UK team are playing in the Great Outdoors this week, and to me nothing says great outdoors more than a moose. They're just so huge and funny looking. My moose looks a bit wrinkled, don't you think?

I took a panel of ivory cardstock and machine-embossed the Dreamweaver Moose. Then I took a dauber and several colors from a Splendor inkpad, and brushed over the surface. I spritzed the entire panel with water, and crumpled it in my hand, and then opened it out flat again. When dry, I brushed more inks over the surface to catch the folds and wrinkles. A little black ink for distressing and a torn edge finished the panel. The kraft card base was ink-distressed as well in brown ink, and softly stamped with the Jeans Pocket image randomly. I wrapped some black hemp cord around the card for added texture.

Dreamweaver Stencils: Tying One On for Summer!

The Dream Team are still celebrating all things summer, despite the various heat waves across the world right now. I chose to post this cool and simple card featuring the Tree Line stencil, in bright and happy colors. The base card is a Parakeet green cardstock from Bazzill, and I used a second panel of Bazzill in a yummy shade of lavender/purple for the trees. Here's what I did:

1. I inked the Tree Line with Versamark ink, all over.
2. I laid it on the base plate of my Big Shot Pro with the inked side up.
3. I placed the cardstock panel face down onto the inked side.
4. I layered on top the a) embossing mat and b) the two clear plates, then ran this through the machine.

The result is two-fold...the ink transferred to the purple panel, and design is now embossed on the panel as well. Perfect, as it provides wonderful guidelines for using an Exacto blade or tiny scissors to cut out the background, leaving just the trees. Once this is done, cover the entire panel with Clear Embossing Powder and heat it. I added thin foam adhesive strips to the back to pop it up off of the green background. The yellow ribbon and welcome sign were added in honor of the tradition of tying a yellow ribbon around the tree until a loved one comes home from the war. That would make for a happy summer day indeed!

Woodware UK: Sketch 25, the Icing on the Cake!

The Woodware UK team is piling on the goodies for this month's sketch #25. I'm up first this week, and I chose to play with Jane Gill's Clear Magic set for Woodware...Huge Cake and Candles, and of course, I just had to paper-piece it. Such a fun technique when you have wonderful papers to work with, like the GCD Studios Carnival Ride Paper Pad. The icing glistens with a mixture of Stampendous Multi Crystal Glitter in both Ultra Fine and Medium, along with a sprinkling of Shaved Ice. I added some Mark Richards adhesive pearls to the yumminess, and finished it off with a Peel Off sentiment.

Dreamweaver Stencils: Summertime Sand and Sun!

Welcome to the second week of the Dreamweaver Stencils' July challenge..."Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more"! We covered the sparkler portion pretty well last week, but there's lots of summertime left. I'm playing in the sand once again, and using Ranger Distress Powders* for the gritty look and feel of sand. The panel on the left features the Scales stencil, and the focal panel features the Sandcastle stencil. Both were created using the double-glitter technique, but with the powders instead of glitter. Here's the process:

1) Peel backing from panel of double-sided mounting paper, and adhere to cardstock panel.
2) Remove backing from DSMP on front.
3) Rub back of stencil with Hawaiian Coconut Soap (this is the best soap for this process, and smells like the beach!). Brush away any hanging soap crumbs, and carefully place stencil on adhesive paper. Use a section of the backing to press stencil on to adhesive surface. Don't touch with fingers as this could prevent the powders from sticking to the adhesive later.
4) For the Scales panel, I just water-falled the powders in stripes of colors. For the Sandcastle, be more careful in placement, or use a small spoon or diagonally cut straw end to apply powders. Rub the powders in for good coverage. Brush away excess.
5) Place panels face down, and pull panel off of stencil, keeping stencil on flat surface to prevent bending.
6) Pour contrasting color of powder over panels. Flick off excess. Heat with heat tool to melt.

For the Summer panel, I rubbed acetate with talcum powder to prevent static cling. I ink-stenciled with Versamark, applied the Distress Powders*, and heated carefully. You can then use a damp towel to wipe away powder residue.

Dreamweaver Stencils: Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more!

Happy 4th of July to all of my friends in the USA! What a perfect day to begin our new monthly challenge, "Summertime, Sparklers, and S'more"! That pretty much sizes up all things summer in the USA, and most likely in your neck of the woods as well. Who doesn't love summer vacations, celebrations, and all the yummy treats of summer? Speaking of celebrations...don't forget to check the Dream It Up! blog to find out if YOU were one of the two winners from our hop with Ranger Stickles Dry Glitter last week!

In honor of the 4th, I  created this really simple card using the Open Heart stencil for a template, and of course, the Stars stencil and the Stripes stencil. I created my stripes by using Memories Mists Strawberry Daiquiri (mmm, doesn't that sound dee-lish?) sprayed through the stencil onto white cardstock. The star was done in the opposite way. I sprayed the stencil itself with Blueberry Milkshake MM, and placed a scrap of Bazzill White Dotted Swiss cardstock on top to transfer the ink. I love how the embossed dots broke up the color in the background! I traced the heart stencil over the portions of my sprayed panels and cut out and layer on kraft cardstock, along with scraps of the stripes, and a panel with the sentiment. For an even more celebratory feel, I added a "sparkler" created with a toothpick, shiny pompom, and rhinestones.
