Stampendous: Spellbinder's Quarterly Hop 2015 #1

We’re excited, once again, to be partnering with the folks over at Spellbinders for a Spring mini blog hop! As Spellbinders design partners this year, we’ve been blessed to use many of their exciting products, and we know their design team is enjoying the Stampendous products we sent for their use! Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week our Design Team will be sharing fun projects they’ve made with the Spellbinders products we’ve received.  Wednesday we’ll be a featured company on their blog and two of our designers will be posting tutorials for you focused on the newest Spellbinders products.

Here's something fun from me:

I really wanted to create a jewelry piece for this occasion. Unfortunately, I rejoined the Stampendous team after all the wonderful base pieces from Spellbinder had been passed out to the  team. However, I did receive a handful of fun dies...

Using the "Dragon Delight" set, I die cut three of the dragonflies from chipboard, and adhered them together for more substance. I applied VersaMark ink over the surface with a fingertip dauber, and poured on some Stampendous Aged Teal Embossing Enamel. This was heated until molten, sprinkled with more and heated again...in all three or four layers of the EE. Then I inked the fishnet-patterned background image from Nathalie Kalbach's "Studio Wired" set of grunge stamps with VersaMark, reheated the surface, and pressed the stamp onto the molten surface. This was allowed to cool before removing the stamp, and the result was this awesomely textured surface. The only additions were three small teal crystals pressed into the re-warmed surface, a thin bit of gold wire wrapped around the head to create curled antennae, and a pin-back adhered to the back with Quick Grip by Beacon Adhesives. Now I wanted this to really be the focal piece, so I created a card to display it on.

I created an easel card loosely following team member, Kristine Reynolds, tutorial HERE, using Core'dinations Vintage and Essentials cardstock, both of which were sanded a bit around the edges. The flat panel on the bottom of the card, was paste-embossed with Dreamweaver Gold Embossing Paste with the Chevron stencil. More of the Aged Teal EE was poured over the wet paste, and all of this was heated until bubbly and dry...more great texture and shimmer!

I cut a square of Mark Richard's linen fabric, frayed the edges, and stamped more of Nathalie Kalbach's images with Toffee and Deep Lagoon VersaFine ink by Tsukineko over the square. This was adhered to the card front with 3L Tape Runner (a wet adhesive would just ooze through the fabric and be seen). I cut two banner strips from scrap and stamped them in black with the Stampendous Cling Grunge Happy Birthday, and adhered these to the right side of the card.

Finally, I used the Richard Garay Celebrations "Sweet Treats" Die set from Spellbinder to cut the cool tag which has a notch at the top to wrap around a bow on a package...in this case, the natural burlap ribbon from May Arts. I punched two holes for the pin-back to slip through, and attached my beautiful pin. NOW it gets the recognition that it deserves! Stampendous: Why Do Hummingbirds Hum?

Because they love to stamp...that's why! Lol.
This week the Stampendous team are sharing our wonderful hummingbird stamps, templates, and dies. I chose to accentuate them by means of a larger canvas. Prepped in advance with gesso, here are the steps:

1. Mix a small amount of Dreamweaver Pearlescent Embossing Paste and tube acrylic to achieve desired background color. Spritz small amount of water to thin slightly. Spray canvas with water, and brush-apply mixed paste. Set aside to dry. Brush some over two paper flowers and set aside to dry.
2. When dry, ink various stamps from filigree set and hummingbird set, and stamp over canvas in Gray StazOn ink. Note: place acrylic blocks behind canvas for stability and a clean image.
3. Using stencil/template from Hummingbird set, paste-emboss one hummingbird on canvas with Dreamweaver Crackle Paste. Let dry until crackled. Color over top with Copic markers.
4. Stamp flowers and leaves with gray on tissue paper. Color with Copic markers. Tear around edge of design. Brush small amount of Beacon Fast Finish over area to place flower/tissue. Place colored tissue down on the wet surface. Brush another thin layer carefully over the tissue piece to seal and adhere to the canvas. Apply a light coat over entire canvas as well.
5. Sprinkle Color Fragments in teal, and Mica Fragmentss over wet Fast Finish. Let dry.Adhere ribbon border on canvas.
6. Layer flowers and adhere to canvas with FabriTac. Add a bit of glue in center and sprinkle with Glass Glitter.
7. Die cut hummingbirds from gauze paper. Ink around edges. Adhere to canvas with Zip Dry.

Stampendous and Spellbinders: A Huge Holiday Hop!

Tuesday through Thursday of this week, Stampendous has been collaborating with Spellbinders and other product partners, to encourage everyone to make this a handmade holiday! Prize info and links are below my project for today:

It's always fun to play with new crafting toys, and let's face it Spellbinders has some of the best! Especially, if you are mixing them with all of the great products from Stampendous as well.

My project is an old-fashioned cone ornament, a perfect way to add some little treats on the tree. I've used the die from the Spellbinder's "Create a Cone" die and embossing plate set to cut the cone shape from a piece of kraft cardstock. The Stampendous Cardinal Elements was stamped once on the cone in Rich Cocoa Memento ink from Tsukineko, and twice on a separate piece of kraft cardstock using the Rhubarb Stalk Memento ink. All pieces were ink-distressed with Peanut Brittle Memento ink. The cone was formed and adhered using Beacon Zip Dry Adhesive. I spread Beacon GemTac around the tip of the cone and the top edge, and covered this heavily with Stampendous Gold Crushed Glass Glitter. The second bird was cut out and adhered partially to the cone. The third bird's wing was cut out and popped up with dimensional foam tape.

I created a hanger with galvanized wire, and added a stamped Stampendous Greeting on a Spellbinder Grommet Tag Die, along with a fluffy May Arts ribbon bow. A bit of glittery tulle and some treats complete this sweet ornament gifty.

Dreamweaver Stencils: A Cameo Appearance!

This week I'm multi-tasking once again, and mixing both my Dream Team challenge (Tiny Treats) with my tutorial on Paper Craft Planet. I'm not going to provide many details in this post, because I really want you to go over to the Planet Blog and check out the tutorial. Bonus...those that go over there have the opportunity to win a Dreamweaver stencil just by following the directions on that post. Of course, those of you that play with the Dreamweaver monthly challenge and link their own creations on the Dream It Up! blog, or email pics of their "Tiny Treats" to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com, have yet another opportunity to win, as well as be featured on the Dream It Up! blog and the Dreamweaver Stencils Facebook Page!

Below this post is a picture of all the supplies used for this project, which looks like quite a lot, but seriously...you probably have most of these items in your craft bins now, and if you haven't, I highly recommend that you purchase them all. These are all products that I personally use all the time and LOVE!

Obviously, I've used the Dreamweaver Cameo stencil, and the Damask stencil as well. I've also used some tiny charm size images from Stampendous, luscious ribbon from May Arts, some Mercart colored aluminum and tools, and lots and lots of products from Beacon Adhesives!

What qualifies this project as a "Tiny Treat", is that the focal point is actually a brooch that can be removed from the card and worn, or even turned into an ornament for the holiday season.

Tutu Much Fun

This week I was on the calendar to provide a project tutorial for 3D Tuesday on Paper Craft Planet. I used this opportunity to finally play with one of my new Stampendous faves...Cling Tutu Toad. Isn't she toadally darling? I had some other fun ingredients to add to the mix, provided by some fab companies...Beacon Adhesives, Ranger, DIY Bangles, etc. I chose to use my wood bangle in a more unique way, and created a hanging nightlight for the little ballerina in all of us. A small flameless tea light was inserted through a hole drilled in the bottom (thanks, Hubs!), so she could be "in the spotlight".
