Bloomin' Window Card

I'm feeling the need today to post something pretty and feminine, so here's a fun card I did for Stampendous using the Bold Geraniums set of Perfectly Clear stamps. I created a window using a square punch for each "pane". I added "curtains" from behind with a cute print, and a "window box" with a Fiskar Border punch. I really love all the border punches out there right now. Sometimes they add just the right touch to a paper-making project. I stamped and cut out a bunch of geraniums, and adhered them to a vase that was stamped and embossed on the same print only running the other direction. If you look closely, there is a tiny green grasshopper hopping away from the pot of flowers. Reminds me of the huuuuuuge one I found in my lavender blooms this morning. Bright lime green with a yellow stripe running down from his forehead (do grasshoppers have a forehead?), which was unusual. Normally up here in the high desert, all the critters are sand colored and blend in with the rocks and sand, but this guy was hiding in my lavender instead. Probably munching on it as well, but I didn't have the heart to scare it off. I don't mind bugs outside, just don't want them inside. :)

Summer Fun 2010 Scrap Page

This page was done in conjunction with the Summer Memento Mini Pail from yesterday's posts. I told you these teens are tooooo photogenic! I used several items from American Crafts again, including one of their "Beach Flowers" as a stencil to created the background paper. The strip of flip flops along the right side is actually the back side of the strip on their print papers with the design info. The letters are Riki Tiki with the exception of the ampersand which is part of a metal alphabet I've had sitting around. You never know when something will come in handy, so you just have to hang on to it! Lol.

Welcome to my blog! I'm so excited this week! I was chosen to be Blog of the Week from Scrapbooking.com magazine. You "meet" so many creative, talented people from all over the world and have the opportunity to learn new techniques and styles, as well as sharing your own with them. Summer Memento Mini Pail

Going along with the "Fill-er-Up" theme, here is another decorated pail. No stamping on this one, just lots of great papers and ribbons from American Crafts. The lettering are "Thickers" from AC which come in a variety of colors, but I purchased them in white so that I could decorate them as I like. In this instance, going along with the summer beach theme, I covered them in bands of Stampendous embossing powder (like the Painting with Powder technique). At the bottom is Sand EP, middle is Baby Blue Pastel, and the top is a sun-shiny Sun Yellow. The pail is filled with little mementos like sand and sea shells. The lid has shells and a rock with a heart worn through it. The pictures are of the Barbie and Ken of the teen set, Tyler Hudson and Melanie Martin. Melanie is the daughter of one of my best friends and stamping buddies, Jamie. Those two are so photogenic that you will probably see their smiling faces popping up on several creations of mine in the future.

STMC19-Safe to Go in the Pail

Week 19 of the Stampendous Saturday Sketch challenges, and it's my turn once again. This week it's "fill 'er up" week. Create and/or decorate a container using stamps, etc. Be sure to post your design with the code attached and link to the Stampendous blogsite so you don't miss out on the opportunity of some great prizes!
My creation uses Changito swimming with the sharks (kind of hard to tell from the picture). I stamped him using StazOn ink on a strip of acetate. I stamped him again on white cardstock and colored him using Copic markers, cut him out and adhered him to the back of the acetate. I placed a second strip of acetate behind the first to protect the coloring from the gummy sharks, and protect the gummy sharks from the ink. I recreated his cute inner-tube using Nestie dies, and framed an additional Changito face for the lid. The "waves" around the pail are Curly-Q's Class A' Peel stickers from Stampendous.

Dreamweaver-You & Me Swirls Card

Here's a nice mushy card created using Dreamweaver Stencils, three of them to be exact. I paste-embossed the images using Glossy Black Embossing Paste, which dries to be very shiny and slick. Each stencil is placed on the cardstock (or in the case of the heart, on printed paper), tape the edges of the stencil down with removable tape, mask off any areas you don't want the paste, and spread the paste over the stencil using a palette knife. Very similar to spreading icing on a cake with an offset spatula. I recommend practicing this technique a few times on scraps until you get the feel for it. Taping the stencil down keeps the surface of the stencil in contact with the surface of the paper and prevents bleeding under. After each image is pasted, carefully remove the stencil and clean immediately. Allow each pasted image to dry completely before cutting the panels and adhering to your card. Just to be slightly unexpected, I cut away a portion of the heart. I added simple black satin ribbon and pink rhinestones for embellishment. Great for Valentine's Day, anniversaries, or just because...the best kind!

Ornamental Congrats Gift Card Holder

Recognize the stamps used on this card? Yep, the same set as I used for the previous post, "Ornamental Gatefold Wedding Card". This could also be a wedding card, or a variety of occasions. Just change out the sentiment and substitute it for one of the many that come with this great clear set from Stampendous. Adding the print paper makes it little more whimsical, and the addition of the layered flowers definitely adds the fun factor. The corrugated strip across the middle adds more texture. On the inside, a pocket is added for a gift card.
