Dreamweaver Thursday with Dreamweaver Doubles Day!

Dreamweaver Thursday has become Dreamweaver Double Days this week, so if you've missed any of the previous days (no post on Tuesday), I suggest you head back after today's link list to the Stampendous Blog for double the samples, and video tutorials to double the fun!

My post today is a variation on another cool technique with Dreamweaver paste called "Sludge Pasting". This is a great way to use up dabs of paste in different  colors that you just couldn't bring yourself to throw away. You don't mix the colors exactly, but you allow them to merge into each other for an ombré or marbled look. Of course, you want to consider the color wheel while doing this, or the result could be mud...not a good look.

My variation on this is that I mixed a bit of Pumpkin and Cosmo Pink Color Solutions inks into a dab of Glossy White Embossing Paste and placed some on the edge of my paste spreader along with a dab of the Translucent Embossing Paste. As  I spread the paste over the Daisies Background and the Stylized Dahlia designs, the colors and the transparency merged slightly. The result reminds me of slightly opaque glass. 

The only embellishments necessary were a few matching brad fasteners, and some scallop-edged velveteen ribbon from May Arts.

Woodware: Painting the Pansies with Pinterest

Each month this year, one of the Woodware designers have been selected to choose a theme for one of the weeks. My choice is "Inspired by Pinterest" as it is one of my favorite sources for inspiration. Just take a look at this amazing watercolor below! Wonderful vibrant colors with lovely, watery effects.

My version is more on the cute side, but I loved the idea of the House Mouse Designs® critter painting the pansies! I figure that magic would have to have a part in the process, as depicted by the swishes of Stampendous Multi Crystal Glitter Mix applied with a glue marker. Before I reached that point, here's how I created the  background...

Using the Stampendous Creative Palette, I placed a few drops of Dreamweaver Color Solutions Alcohol Inks in Cosmo Pink, Iceberg, Lemoncello, and Pumpkin on the surface, added several drops of the blending solution, and used a can of "air" (purchased in an office supply store) to move the colors around. I placed a panel of Stampendous Mixed Media White Cardstock over the inks to pick up the colorful swirl. You need to move quickly as the inks can dry quickly, but you can re-wet them with more blending solution. The solution is also perfect for  cleaning the surface of your palette. There will be staining, but it will be transparent.

Once the panel was dry, the House Mouse Designs® Painting Pansies was stamped in black ink, and a bit of coloring with watercolor pencils and a waterbrush on the design to bring it all together. A fun button and ribbon for embellishment and a quick stamping of the sentiment from the Stampendous Perfectly Clear Life Words complete the card.

Here's what I've created for today:

 
No banner today, but mad frou frou! Using a Clear Scrap Frame as a base, a few Dreamweaver Alcohol Inks (Iceberg and Sugarplum) were spread on the back, and a bit of white acrylic paint swiped over the front. Stampendous flowers from the Cling Build a Bouquet set were stamped on Woodware's patterned paper pad, and cut out with the Build a Bouquet Die set. Some were left large, and others cut smaller, crumpled, and layered. A few of the Woodware white paper flowers were colored with the alcohol inks as well, and adhered with the stamped flowers on the frame. Leftover smudges from the inks all over my craft mat were thinned with isopropyl alcohol, and smeared over the butterfly garland, which was draped over the frame. An old page of poetry was ink-stenciled with the Dreamweaver Rose Tree and dye-based inks. Fast Finish from Beacon Adhesives was brushed over the back of the thin Clear Scrap panel that I inserted behind the frame, and poem was placed face down on the finish before another layer was brushed over the back. Finally, heavy sprinklings of Stampendous Color Fragments and Crushed Glass Glitter were adhered with a bit of Glossy Accents.
