Blog Candy Winner and Wisemen Lantern

Today's post features another one of my lanterns. This one was created for the Stampendous holiday 2011 catalog. I used Thermo Acetate to form the cylinder shape. The Wisemen image was stamped on the front with Black StazOn ink. On the back of the acetate, I played with lots of gooey stuff! I squirted a generous amount of Ranger Glossy Accents over the acetate. Then I added drops of various colors of Ranger Alcohol Inks, swirled a bit with my finger, and sprinkled with the Frantage Elements Mica Flakes. Then I took the thin white tissue that comes with the acetate, crumpled it up, smoothed it slightly, and applied it over the wet goo. The whole thing was set aside to dry. Once dry, the panels were attached at the sides with brad fasteners to form the cylinder shape. Ordinary rope was covered in Versamark ink and embossed with Aged Gold Embossing Enamel and glued around the top and base of the lantern. A vellum cylinder insert was edge punched and inserted for more opacity in the lantern. A few small flameless candles were tucked inside.
For Saturday's post, I promised to give away blog candy to one commenter who had the correct answer to my question, and the winner of the Cling Jumbo Santa Believe set was...

Stampendous Christmas in July: Peeking Pals Gift Card Holder

Elves, and reindeer, and penguins...oh my! No, you're not having heat hallucinations. It's Christmas in July! So while you are contemplating filling up your bathtub with ice cubes and parking yourself in there until October, take a gander at these cute little guys, ready and waiting to bring you holiday cheer. This fun gift card holder was created using the Stampendous Perfectly Clear "Snowy Short Stacks". This set reminds me of those books we had as children that were divided into thirds and you could mix and match the heads, bodies, and feet, to create something totally unique. I haven't gone that far with these little guys, but I do have them peeking over the top of a panel of cute plaid paper, with their little feet showing below. Behind the plaid panel is a slot to add a gift card, in this case for a barely-heard-of coffee chain, which makes the sentiment delightfully appropriate. Well, maybe not in July, but in December you'll agree with me. This set can be used in so many different ways to created so many fun projects for the holidays, so pick it up quick and get started. From now through the end of August, most of the Stampendous   design team are posting every Saturday, giving you wonderful inspiration for the upcoming holidays, as well as fabulous "Fran-tagey" creations with all the latest releases of images and accessories. Along with these posts, each of us are giving away blog candy. So hop around to all of these fabulously talented ladies and leave some sweet comments for your chance to win some sweet Stampendous images.

Bundle Up and Slide Card

This week's challenge for Stampendous was Christmas in July. Most of the design team are posting brand new designs that were just released at CHA this past week. Amazingly cute stuff! I love how we can all play with the same designs, and each of us come up with something completely different. My version uses the new Cling Cuties Bundle Set which includes the sentiment as well (see 3rd picture). This Stampendous sweetie has such a blissful expression on her face. I colored the image using my very limited collection of Copics, and added a pink pom pom on her hat. I stitched a pocket and created a pull out tag with the sentiment and one of the fuzzy snowflake Class A' Peels. Since the set is about bundling up (hard to think of in July!), I created a "quilt" using the new Cling Snowfall background. I stamped and embossed it in white over three colors of cardstock and stacked and cut them in curves to mimic the puffiness of a cozy quilt. I then pieced the quilt together onto white cardstock. Because I had used the three colors, I was able to create a set of three of these cuties. Stocking up now for the holidays!
