Frames Die Cut in yellow was the perfect pop of color off of the blue background for the cut out segments of this design. Borders of gingham ribbons and satin floral trim are the perfect embellishments for Mum. The inside features the Woodware Just Words "Mother's Day" sentiment, along with another die cut frame and more ribbon. Woodware: Happy Wishes for Happy Mums
They celebrate Mother's Day earlier in the year over in the UK than we do here in the States, so that is our challenge for the Woodware team this week. I chose to use this whimsical "You Make Me Happy" Clear Magic set designed by Francoisé Read for Woodware. I used bright Aquarel Watercolor Pencils and a wet paintbrush for the watercolor effect. Woodware UK: Play Along with Sketch 32!
I always enjoy playing with a sketch challenge, and this month's Woodware Sketch #32 was no exception. The main panel features this beautiful Stampendous King's Teapot (only in this case it is for the queen mum in every family's household). Colored and shaded with markers, and with some shimmery Mark Richard's lavender adhesive pearls, it makes a perfect focal point...just like Mum!The background triangles were cut from pretty shades of Woodware Color Cardstock packs. I stamped in rows images from the Woodware Clear Magic stamps designed by Francoisé Read called, "Time for a Cuppa", in lovely Clearsnap Archival Dye inks.
To finish it off, I created my own banner from a strip of white cardstock, stamped with one of the new Woodware Just Words for "Mother's Day". Mother's Day in the UK is March 30th, and in May for the USA, so this card is fun inspiration to cover both occasions!
I hope you'll take the time to create something following Sketch 32, and link it up to the Woodware blog. Meanwhile, you have all of this week to see what the rest of the team have been playing with!

Bee and Bouquet Mother's Day card

It's that time of year again to honor the hardest working individuals on the planet...moms. Here is a truly special card for doing just that. Takes a bit of time, but still simple to do and you know she'll plop it in a place of honor in her home and brag about her creative child! Just stamp and emboss any of the great Stampendous flowers in white on yellow cardstock and cut out. Add shading with chalk, and embellish the centers with brads. Stamp and emboss the "Mom" panel from "Feminine Friends" on the front of the card and cut slits at top and bottom to insert stems through. Add shadowing with chalk once again. Stamp the background with some of the great mini stamps that come in this set using Versamark ink. Attach your blossoms and stems to each other and insert through slit. Add an extra flower along with a stamped, embossed, and cut out bee and a ribbon tie.
To all you moms out there...milk it for all it's worth!
