Recycling With French Flair




Well...we've recycled, reused, repurposed, and renewed everything within our grasp this month. This has really been a fun challenge for the month of April for the Stampendous team, and we hope that you've had fun playing along as well.

For my final post for the month, I decided to go French...as in baguette, that is! I picked up a loaf at the Trader Joe's when I was "down the hill" last week, and saved the paper wrapper bag that it came in. This became the basis for my card. I broke out the Stampendous Cling I Love Paris image, stamped and embossed it in Aged Black Embossing Enamel. Then I stamped and embossed the Cling Leaf Swirl with Aged Copper Embossing Enamel, added several sprinkles and puddles of both enamels indiscriminately over the card, before finishing it off with a scrap of pompom trim, ribbon, twine, and the foil cap from one of my favorite bottles of wine (unfortunately...not French)... I just liked the regal crown imprinted on it! Besides, if you are drinking wine while creating, you are entitled to a little artistic license...even in recycling!

A Little Birdy Told Me...About the Dreamweaver Challenge


 Feeling the love of the Dreamweaver Stencil's "May Flowers" challenge this month? We are down to the final week in this challenge, so I really wanted to provide a happy project to encourage more to play along with us...like YOU!

Ever have a creative idea in your head, that amazingly turns out just the way you planned? This project was mine. I had bought several of these darling unfinished wood birdhouses at JoAnn's for $1 each. They are about 5" tall and 4" wide, the perfect size to have a little fun with...and I did. I broke out a few of my Ranger products...Adirondack Paint Daubers In White and Pool, Claudine Helmuth Studio Acrylic Paint in Yellow Pastel, and Enamel Accents in White. Those Paint Daubers are soooo awesome! Great way to paint items without breaking out all the messy supplies. Here is what I did:

1) I daubed, swiped, and brushed on the Pool and Pastel Yellow paints.
2) I "white washed" over the surface by dry-brushing white paint over the surface.
3) I distressed the edges with a sanding block.
4) Using the Black Eyed Susans stencil from Dreamweaver Stencils, I taped it onto the flat side of the roof with removable tape. I stenciled the design with the Pastel Yellow, pouncing off excess paint before pouncing paint into the design in an up and down motion, to avoid getting paint under the stencil bridges.
5) I wanted to stencil the Bird Words onto the front of the house, but let's face it, the design of the house was not going to let that happen. So, here is what I did...I stenciled the words onto a piece of thin tissue paper. I traced the outline of the house and the heart opening, and cut out the piece of tissue. Then I coated the front with Beacon Adhesives Fast Finish Decoupage, placed the tissue on top,  and brushed more decoupage over the top.
6) I added little white dots of Enamel Accents to the roof.
7) Some ribbons and Prima flowers with a glitter brad were the finishing touch.

Trash to Treasure Beneath the Sea


The stupendous Stampendous  gals are at it again this week...recycling, repurposing, and reusing for the month of April! Nothing hits the "round file" this month, and everything is fair game to be stamped, cut, encrusted, and Fran•taged! 


My creation for this week features the new Cling Mermaid Kiddo, stamped and colored with Copics (about 25 different shades which I was too lazy to list). I used my Nesties' circle dies to cut out a portion to encapsulate along with some of the Steel Blue and Fresh Green Crushed Glass Glitter. I die cut a corresponding circle to frame the "capsule". I stamped and embossed in Aged Ivory the Cling Shell Background on kraft, tore the edge, adhered more of the Glass Glitters, and added the remainder of her tail and hair (didn't want to waste that portion...it was colored really nicely!)


What was my recycled item? The capsule of course! Somewhere in the past, brad fasteners came in this clamshell packaging which I saved for the perfect occasion...and this was it!

The Dream Team is in Full Bloom for April!


Welcome to April, and a new monthly challenge from Dreamweaver Stencils..."Bring May Flowers". Yeah, we're skipping the April showers portion of the rhyme, and jumping to the flowers...'cuz we LOVE flowers! You will, too, when you see what a fabulous selection of flowers that Dreamweaver Stencils has to offer.

My post today features a card that was also featured in today's new Dreamweaver Stencils' Thursday Tutorials at Paper Craft Planet. Being a "Supernova" (oh, yeah, that's right!) at PCP, provided me with the opportunity to share my love of Dreamweaver Stencils with he other team members, as well as the members there.

Each week either a "Supernova" or a "Dream Teamer" will host the tutorial for the week, and each week one lucky commenter will receive their choice of stencil prize. There is a catch, but you'll have to go read about it on the Planet.

The flowers that I chose for this card were the Blossom Shape and the new Cherry Blossom Shape, and the background is the new Quatrefoil design, which is also kind of a floral pattern. Each section was machine embossed on my Big Shot Pro, layered and/or cut out, and adhered to create a striking graphic card that definitely would have qualified for the CAS challenge last month as well!

Play along with the team for an opportunity to win one of two stencil prizes. The prizes for this month's challenge are two sets of the  Flower Heart and the Thank You Script:
