Woodware: Travel in Vintage Style

The Woodware team are traveling back and forth from the UK to the US this week, and a few places in between! My travel-themed card was created with the Stampendous Cling Locomotive, Railroad Poster, and Railroad Map. Stamped simply in black or burnt orange ink on kraft cardstock, the layers are what make this CAS card, and the orange background card really makes it pop. A couple of brad fasteners add a bit of dimension and finish it off along with a stamped sentiment from the Stampendous Perfectly Clear Gears Kiddo set.

Be sure to let us know you're from Australia in your comments!!

Here's what I've created for this fun hop:

Remember how on an earlier post of mine this week, I mentioned how many cool uses you can think of with these Linnie Blooms Canvas File Folders? This week I've done a greeting card, a portable doodling journal, and today...a gift card holder. The outside was painted with black acrylic paint, and when dry, was pasted in Dreamweaver Regular Embossing Paste with the little Bird on a Branch, and the Large Scales. When dry, the clean and dry stencils were replaced over the pasted surface, and inked with the Tsukineko® Splendor Circus palette and large and small stencil brushes. For the large scales section, I left the stencil on still, and stamped the Stampendous Cling Seed Background in Onyx VersaFine ink over the top. A die cut frame was cut from canvas, inked in green, and stamped with a sentiment from the Perfectly Clear Royal Heart Quotes. The back was stenciled with the same designs, but kept lighter and brighter.

The inside was ink-stenciled with the Dreamweaver Zen Butterfly in deep periwinkle with the Bird on a Branch stenciled on one wing in black, and along the border with the Large Scales again. I created a mask for the butterfly with a sticky note in order to stamp the Seeds Background over the canvas, and the Cling Cosmos image. the petals were colored a bit, I added some doodling with my .7 Copic Black Multiliner. I cut a slit through the canvas, and adhered strips of May Arts ribbon over the edges to prevent fraying. This became a cute pocket for a giftcard. As before, I sewed another large heart  button on the tab to act as a closure, and added a couple of buttons inside for fun. I really think that this folder was my favorite for this week, but all were fun to create. What do you think? Don't forget to leave your comment below before visiting the rest of the team's bloomin' posts!

Dreamweaver Thursday: BLOOMIN' with Linnie Blooms Part One

If you've been following along with the Stampendous team this week, then you know we've been having a great time playing with Linnie Blooms, a new product line introduced at CHA in January. So many fun products to decorate and to decorate with. Mixed with Stampendous and Dreamweaver products, the sky is the limit...or at least the canvas.

Plus there are prizes!! Three lucky winners will each win a set of Linnie Blooms Fabric Mini File Folders just like they provide for our team. Plus, you'll receive a Dreamweaver Stencil background, and our Vintage Press Perfectly Clear Stamps™ Set. You'll be creating Mixed Media fabric accents in no time! These winners have to have a U.S. mailing address, but Aussie Fans - good news! The Stencil Specialists are sponsoring one Australian prize for this collaboration! You could win a Stampendous stamp, an LL sized Dreamweaver Stencil of your choice, a silicone buttons mould, and a Stampendous Embossing Powder (your color choice)... Wow!! Be sure to let us know you're from Australia in your comments!!

Here's what I've created for this fun hop:

This canvas folder from Linnie Blooms was created to be a travel doodling kit. The inside was painted with black acrylic paint, and when dry, was stamped with the Stampendous Cling Seed Background and white ink, and the Dreamnweaver Corner Flowers stencil, also inked in white.
The outside were painted and inked in soft pink. The back was stamped in Onyx Versafine using the Cling Cosmos image. The front was paste-embossed in Matte Black with the Dreamweaver Bird on a Branch. When dry, ink and mica powder was brushed over the surface. The Stampendous Cling Hope Sings sentiment was stamped onyx ink, and all of the edges inside and out were distressed with ink. On the inside, a small slit was cut to insert a small pad of paper. On the outside, ribbon was added along with some little buttons, and a closure was  created by sewing a large heart-shaped button on the tab of the folder, allowing the front cover's edge to tuck underneath.

Stampendous Pop Ups, Puppies, and Pals

Squee overload this week on the Stampendous team posts. Between playing with the new Linnie Blooms products, and playing with our Stampendous Puppies and Pals, you might need a dose of insulin to battle the sweetness!

Following the directions on the Stampendous PopUp Dies, I created the base for my pop up card with blue Bazzill Basics  cardstock and Stampendous Mixed Media White cardstock. I die cut the edges with the fun edge dies that come with the Pop Up Die set, and there are rectangle and oval nesting frames in the same set. What an awesome deal!

My cute critters were stamped from the Playful Puppies Cling Stamp set and the Kitties set, and then colored, shaded and textured with my Copic Sketch Markers. The texture of the fluff on the brown puppy was created by wetting a piece of terrycloth with Copic blending solution, and applying it over the colored surfaces in small patches, and holding for a few seconds in between. So easy and effective. All of the parts and pieces were cut out with their matching die sets (sold separately), and attached to the various tabs on the pop up card. The sentiment came from the Perfectly Clear Life Words, stamped on layered die cut frames from the Pop Up set as mentioned above.

Here's a list of those puppies and pals posters for today:

Here's what I'm bloomin' with excitement to show you...

Linnie Blooms canvas file folders are so much fun to play with. Just dump a pile of paints, inks, embossing pastes, stamps, stencils, and embellies on your work space and leave the world behind! These are a fun size, and as you'll see in my posts this week, there are so many uses besides just cute!

For this one, I painted the front with black acrylic paint. When dry, I paste-embossed in Dreamweaver Matte Black the Corner Flower stencil, set this aside to dry, and cleaned my stencil immediately. Once dry, I replaced the stencil over the design, and using Tsukineko Radiant Neon inks and small stencil brushes, I added color to the design. I poured clear embossing powder over the surface and heated it for a nice shine. On the back side, I used the same stencil and inked directly on the canvas with similar colors, and added a bit of doodling with a black Copic Multi-Liner pen. Both front and back were inked around the edges before moving to the inside.

On the inside, I ink-stenciled the Dreamweaver Zen Butterfly in orange ink. Leaving the stencil in place, I inked the Stampendous Cling Seeds Background in black, and stamped on top (be sure to protect the outside area with tape so that the design is only on the wings). I doodled a bit, added some buttons and twine, and moved onto the right side. I wanted the sentiment to be the focal point, so I brushed a bit of soft orange and green inks in the background, and stamped the Cling Cosmos image in Red Pepper VersaFine ink. Then I was able to stamp the Cling Life is Art in Onyx Versafine over the top. Both sides were inked around the edges, and a heart button was sewed onto the tab, which acts as a closure for the folder (see top pic).
Don't forget to leave a comment before moving on to the other team players for today*.

Dreamweaver Thursday: Cheerful Cherries for the Picnic

Yep. These are cheerful cherries. They are soaked in a nice red blend wine, so they're really happy! Great in a wine spritzer, over ice cream, or by themselves! Before I drank any, I thought I'd better decorate the jar and write my post. Lol.

The muslin topper was ink-stenciled with the Dreamweaver Opto Checkerboard four times with Majestic Blue VersaFine™ ink from Tsukineko®, and heat set with my heat tool. It was tied over the lid with a bit of polyester batting for added fluff and puff. A stenciled tag with the year of the "harvest" was created with the Dreamweaver Dual Alphabet Die and Leafy Branch Die, along with a bright "cherry" red button.

The front label was created with the complete Dreamweaver Cherries stencil design. The center was taped off while I stenciled the checkerboard around the edge. Then the outside border was taped off while I did the inside design. As this was a bit trickier to mask off, I used the Picasso tool to block areas while I inked the cherries separate from the leaves and branch with Satin Red and Mossy Green VersaFine. Then I placed the Dreamweaver Faux Cross Stitch Screen over the surface on the diagonal, and inked through it with Sepia VersaFine. I highly recommend that you purchase a good set of stencil brushes for projects like this. My favorites are the Dreamweaver ones in several sizes including the largest, and several small ones.

This was layered over red cardstock, and adhered to a wrap of blue burlap. Pretty cute, huh? I think this would be great at the Stampendous Picnic along with the piles of yummies, and the ants might have a harder time taking over the picnic. Hicc. Upp.

Here's the lineup for our Dreamweaver Thursday, but be sure to also visit the Picnic post on the Stampendous blog as well:

Woodware: The Difference Between Men and Boys is the Price of Their Toys!

My son has a few of these "toys", and they are his favorite things to "play" with. So, of course, when Stampendous came out with this Cling Motorcycle Elements image, I had to buy it. The card that I created with it I kept simple with a bit of grunge. Stamped in black dye ink, and colored with shades of gray markers. I placed the Dreamweaver Houndstooth background stencil over the top, and ink-stenciled the pattern over the panel in gray ink. The top edge was torn, and the panel was adhered to a black card. I attached two grommets, and tied a scrap of ribbon through the holes. Just because you're creating a masculine card, does not mean that it has to be boring or difficult. Be sure to see what the rest of the team have been posting for the "Boys and their toys" theme this week. You'll find the links on the Woodware blog.

Welcome to the Stampendous Picnic!

Have you had the chance to see all of the fun summery, yummy, picnic-y images that Stampendous has released this spring? You can view them all HERE. Meanwhile, here's what I have to share with you today:

If you followed along with us last week, you'll remember that we had a fabulous collaboration with Clear Scraps. For some reason, my befuddled mind thought that it was the same week as the Picnic week, so I created with both. Um, yeah. So, I'm posting with my Clear Scraps banner card today.

The base card is Bazzill Basics Dotted Swiss in white, stamped with the Cling Picnic Ants border, using Onyx VersaFine from Tsukineko®. I paste-embossed the Dreamweaver OpArt Checkerboard in red on a small section of the clear banner, and set this aside to dry.

Meanwhile, I stamped the Cling Lunch Line in Tuxedo Black Memento, and colored with Copic Sketch Markers. I added the Cling Life is a Picnic sentiment as well. I cut this to fit a portion of the clear banner, edged it with a red marker, and adhered it to the banner. This allowed me to adhere the banner to the card with pieces of foam tape to pop it up off of the card. Some little snippets of May Arts' ribbon were tied through the holes at the top.

Just think how fun it would be to string several of these near your favorite picnic place? Clearly genius.

Just like the ants, march yourself on over to these posts for more yummy fun:

Stampendous and Clear Scraps: Clearly Creative Hop Day!

Welcome to the final day of the Stampendous/Clear Scraps hop week! Pour yourself a cuppa, and get ready for a clearly creative collaboration! Remember, there are three wonderful prize packages up for grabs. Just leave comments at each of the posts through the entire week for a chance to win. Prize rules can be found HERE.

I went a bit vintage for my project today...my inspiration being the Clear Scrap Deco Frame that I was given to play with. To give the frame some age, I applied Dreamweaver Color Solutions alcohol inks in Aspen Leaf and Creme Brulee to the back of the frame. The front of the frame was stamped with one of the images from the Stampendous' Natalie Kalbach Cling Studio Fiesta set and black StazOn ink. The template that comes with this stamp set is the profile of the man and woman, which I traced onto black cardstock, cut out, and ran through my Big Shot with the Dreamweaver Damask stencil. Some StazOn white ink was swiped over the embossed surface, and the silhouette was adhered to the top of an ink-distressed section of a music sheet. This was then cut to fit the opening and adhered to a piece of acetate cut slightly larger than the opening. I used Beacon Fast Finish as a decoupage medium to adhere the music section to the acetate. More was brushed over the top, and Stampendous Fran•tagĂ© Mica chips were sprinkled over the wet finish. This was set aside to dry. At this point I shifted my focus to my background.

I knew that I wanted to create a background that would make my framed couple the focal point. I started with a square piece of Bazzill BlackBoard, which I ink-stenciled with the white ink and the Dreamweaver Stripes stencil. A narrow panel of ivory cardstock was ink-stenciled with the Damask stencil again using Rich Cocoa and Peanut Brittle Memento inks from Tsukineko®. Velvet and lace ribbon from May Arts was adhered along the edges of this panel. Now I could put the rest of this together...

The acetate piece with the music and silhouette were adhered to the panel. The frame was popped up over the top using dimensional glue dots. To embellish the frame, I stamped the flower image from the Fiesta set multiple times on the scraps of music sheet, and spritzed them with Dreamweaver Memories Mists in Pale Ale and Mango Lemonade. I cut them, loosely following the line of the design, and curled and "smooshed" them  into layered flowers to adhere along the edges. Some May Arts plaid ribbon was looped and tied with a piece of twine and a vintage button to add to the frame. The same ribbon was wrapped around the handle of the wood frame. The final touch was two Dreamweaver die cut ovals layered, with the Stampendous Cling Mr. & Mrs. stamped in black ink. This too was popped up on the framed project. Oh, wait...I forgot the most important elements that I added...glued edges on the flowers with Stampendous Gold Crushed Glass Glitter for extra vintage charm.
Here is where you leave me a charming comment before moving on the rest of the teams. If you've missed any of the previous days, start at the beginning with this post HERE.

Woodware: WINING About Sketch 42

Welcome to another sketch challenge with the Woodware team...number 42 to be precise. Here's what the challenge design looks like:

I decided to flip it on its side, and broke out a fun Clear Magic set designed by Francoisé Read for Woodware, called "Cheers" for obvious reasons. I stamped a background with three of the words from the set on natural kraft cardstock. I used a 1 3/4" square punch for the two purple squares, and cut a rectangle for the pieces for the sketch. Each were stamped with a different wine-themed image in black ink. The final piece was the sentiment on a strip cut banner style, and popped up with foam tape. A sentiment from Francoisé's Friendships Clear set. Super simple and super fun. My next project with this stamp set is to create wine-glass markers from stamped shrink plastic attached on coiled wires. Keep an eye out for it!

Be sure to play along with the team, and link your own creations to the Woodware blog for a chance to win a prize for the month.

Dreamweaver Thursday: Playing with Polly

We are kind of having a free-for-all with our Dreamweaver posts today. Some of us are mixing the Clear Scraps collaboration in with our Dreamweaver and Stampendous products, and some of us who had no Clear Scraps, are playing with whatever we want to...so, check it out...

Polly wants to play today, so she has a plethora of positively perfect products to peek through. The base of the card was machine-embossed with the Dreamweaver Crusade Background, with  Bamboo and Rich Cocoa Memento from Tsukineko® brushed over the embossed surface. Using the Cling Jumbo Parrot set from Stampendous, I colored the separate parts with Copic Sketch Markers, cut them out, and machine-embossed them with the I-Beams stencil design. These, too, were brushed with ink...Sand Memento. Two Dreamweaver Monstera Leaf Dies were cut from more of the olive cardstock, and brushed with Bamboo ink. A panel of kraft cardstock was stamped with the Cling Old World Map image, inked, and distressed around the edges before being adhered to the card. The remaining portions of the "plethora" were layered and adhered along with a strip of burlap, a stamped sentiment from the Perfectly Clear Wild Sayings, and a healthy sprinkling of Stampendous Fran•tagĂ© Mica pieces. Don't you just love how well the Dreamweaver line mixes in with their new family at Stampendous? I do!

Stampendous and Clear Scraps: Clearly Creative

The Stampendous and Clear Scraps teams are having a transparently good time this week, and we'd love for you to visit our blogs for fun inspiration and an opportunity to win a fabulous prize package. We have three prize packages, each of which will include our Cling Jumbo Filigree Stamp Set, a Jumbo Perfectly Clear Acrylic Handle, PLUS a Clear Scraps Mixable Album and some extra acrylic accents! Comment on our blog and each designer’s blog of the day throughout this week of our hop and the winners will be announced Monday, May 18th. Please click the Official Rules for all the info on winning.

Clear Scraps are an amazing product, clearly designed for all of your favorite art media. You can read all about it on their website, as well as find locations to purchase this terrific line of products...and their blogsite is full of suggestions for incorporating these goodies along with products like Stampendous and Dreamweaver.

Here's what I've created for today's post:

This page is the perfect example of how the perfect embellishment can MAKE the project. I created this scrap page featuring pictures of my son, Matt, and his track racing that he loves so much. He also loves to fix things, change things, add things, and always has.
Therefore, using the Dreamweaver Stencils' Gears background was appropriate. This was paste-embossed in Matte Black, and sprinkled with Stampendous Aged Taupe and Aged Bronze Embossing Enamels, and then heated for plenty of texture and shine without looking blingy. The rest of the background was a few stamped images from Andy Skinner's Industrial and Steampunk Cling Sets licensed by Stampendous. Finally, the wonderful Clear Scraps Gears border which I daubed on more of the Matte Black
Embossing Paste, and sprinkled with a bit more of the enamels, and heated slightly. You have to keep the heat tool far from the surface or the acetate border will warp a bit. Once cool, I swiped a bit of Black StazOn ink around the edges. I'm really happy with how this turned out, and hope that he will be, too.
