You GNOME You Need Tags for the Holidays!
It's a perfect time during the holiday season for a tag challenge, which is just what today's post is all about. The Design Team for Lizzie Anne Designs was challenged this month to create a tag for the holidays. I'm afraid I may have gone slightly over the top with this one. I can guarantee you that very few people get tags like this on their gifts from me! Lol. My husband and sons are fortunate if they get one of those stickers from Target* that say "To" and "From", and they probably don't even notice those! So this was my opportunity to go all out on a tag. I cut several layers of various Nestabilities shapes of cardstock and DP. If you remember from the wreath I created for the last challenge, this cutie-pie gnome (or elf, or Santa) is a favorite of mine, so I used him once again putting him in a fun polka dot outfit. I flocked and glittered his beard and added a sparkle pompom to the tip of his hat. (I love pompoms in case you haven't noticed before!) I love the vintage look of the Happy Holidays stamp, so of course, this had to be used as well. All the layers were distressed with ink around the edges and/or pierced to mimic stitching (which I was too lazy to do tonight), and the center oval was run through the Big Shot with a Cuttlebug folder for more texture. I tried several options for ribbon or cording, and finally settled on this homespun plaid as the final element. This tag could easily be simplified by leaving off a couple of layers, skipping the piercing and paper piecing. Personally, I would still add the pompom on his hat 'cuz you have to have one "oooh, cute" item! Be sure to check out the rest of our super-talented team as listed at right for more tag inspiration, and get going on creating your own. Family and friends should NOT have Target* sticker labels on their gifts...or at least not FRIENDS! :)
