Okay, cheating a bit here. This week has been a little wild for me, so I'm fudging a bit on the Stampendous Saturday Sketch Challenge from October 2nd. Cyndi challenged us with a recipe of using some black, bling, and ribbon. Be sure to check out what Cyndi, Jenn, and Wendy came up with using this recipe. It just happens that this ornament is in the latest issue of Paper Crafts "Holiday Cards & More", and I kept meaning to post it on my blog. So taking care of both here. The bird was stamped and embossed in black on the red cardstock and one piece of transparency acetate. Then it was stamped and embossed in white on a second piece of acetate. All were cut out, including an additional bird from a print (see pic in magazine) and layered, with the tinsel cording loop trapped in between. The sentiment comes in the form of the ribbon being held in the beak of the bird. The bling is the Diamond Dot stickers in red. Bending the wings out on the ornament adds dimension. A very easy gift to send in an envelope to someone. However, I do have a tip to share with you regarding embossing on the acetate: wipe a small amount of talcum powder on both sides of the acetate before stamping. This helps to prevent the embossing powder from attaching with static to areas that you don't want EP on. Later you can use a damp towel to wipe off the powder residue. I like this trick more than the anti-static pouches and mediums that are out on the market for three reasons. 1) Costs much less. 2) Doesn't scratch the surface. And 3) Usually smells good! You now have a few days left to upload your own version of our recipe. Follow the instructions on the Stampendous Impressions blog, and you could win one of two great prizes! Check back this Saturday for my sketch. This time, no cheating involved...but a very fun project with a sense of humor.
