Dreamweaver Design-An-Ornament
On my last Dreamweaver Stencils post, I mentioned the wide variety of uses these stencils promise. One that I did not mention, is the numerous stencils that are a shape only...a vase, a shirt, a leaf, a kimono, etc., and in this case, an ornament. This leaves what you fill in the empty space totally up to you. I chose to use the "Poinsettia" stencil. Yes, this is the same stencil that you've seen me design with already, including the "Pretty in Pink" card that I presented for the Dreamweaver blog hop. In the case of this ornament card, I ran the mirror silver cardstock panel through the Big Shot with the "Oval Ornament" stencil (there is also a round ornament stencil available). I then replaced the stencil over the embossed panel before placing the "Large Poinsettia" stencil on top and taping down the layers with removable tape. I carefully spread the Pearlescent embossing paste over the surface, removed the stencils to clean, and set aside the panel to dry for about 20-30 minutes. Meanwhile, I ran the bottom portion of the navy card through the Big Shot with the "Large Lace Border" stencil. I added a light blue edged border across the card, and once the panel was dry, I added a sheer ribbon bow and a metal sentiment. The really cool part of this technique is that you can design your ornament to suit the recipient. You could go elegant as in this case, or fun and whimsical by stenciling flip flops, a penguin, a dog or cat, Santa, Celtic knots, etc. You could even stamp a design on the ornament after running through the Big Shot. Just place the ornament stencil back over the embossed surface to mask off the areas that you don't want stamped, and stamp your design over the raised surface.
