Winner, Winner, Vintage Holiday Glimmer!

This past week, Cath Edvalson, Trends Editor for Paper Crafts Magazine, posted her favorites in papercrafting trends from the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) convention in Rosemont, IL, in July. I was soooo excited to see that two newly released images from Stampendous made it into her post, which you can see HERE! I am so in love with the latest images and products from Stampendous for the fall and winter seasons. Too many faves to list them all. However, one of these falls into Cath's trend forecast of vintage holidays...this gorgeous image, "Cling Postcard Pretty". I followed the fabulous "Fran-tage" techniques to create the vintage look, complete with coffee spritzing and sprinkling. A soft background image was stamped in Versamark in the background and brushed over with chalks. The "Cling Seasons Post" sentiment was added over the background. The focal image was stamped on my postcard panel, but then again on a manila tag to line up with the previous image. I used my softer Copic markers to color the image on the tag. Edges were distressed, ribbon was heat-tool-crinkled, and all were mounted on a soft pink card. Once again, several of the design team members are playing along with Stampendous Saturday, so be sure to visit them and leave some love...'cuz you know you want more opportunities to win blog candy this week!

Stampendous Blog Candy Opportunity Ends Friday

Friday at 6 pm PT is the close of this week's Stampendous blog candy opportunity. Have you taken advantage of it this week? No? If you love birthdays and cupcakes, then I guarantee that you will want this week's blog candy. Click HERE or scroll down and enjoy my Dreamweaver Stencils' post along the way!

Dreamweaver Stencils Free Week Technique

A Dreamweaver Stencils' Dream Team free week is always the perfect opportunity to play with a new technique. This week, I decided to feature a card that I had done for CHA using a fun way to use the new holographic foils from Dreamweaver Stencils. The new Butterfly is the coolest stencil...the stencil is shaped as the entire butterfly, allowing you to do some unusual things. In my case, I wanted to show off the positive and the negative portions of the image. Using Versamark ink directly on the stencil and running it through the Big Shot with the aqua panel transfers the ink, acting almost as a stamp. This was then embossed with black EP. The same process was used on the harlequin paper, but with white EP. On this panel, I replaced the stencil over the embossed area and inked in the other areas, embossing with black EP. Once again, I replaced the stencil over both panels,  applied Versamark ink, and embossed with the Stampee bonding powder. Then I immediately placed the holo foil over the embossed surface face UP and ran them through my hot laminator. Once I peeled off the carrier, what was left over the surface was this shimmery, iridescent holographic foil to highlight the gorgeousness of the new Butterfly stencil. So cool to be able to run the foil through the laminator on top of the embossed surfaces. Very addictive and fun. Be sure to try it out! I wonder what the rest of the team has thought up this week...let's go visit and find out! Then check out the Dream It Up! blog before linking your own creation. BTW, you can see all the new release stencils HERE.

Skip, Skip, Skip to a Sketch!

I couldn't resist. I had to play along with Skipping Stones Design sketch challenge this week, created by Teri Anderson (of Paper Crafts Go-to-Gals fame). I've been playing with the two "boobies" sets from SSD in preparation for their annual "Blogs for Boobies" event which runs next week from August 15th -17th. All of the cards/projects from this hop will be auctioned and the proceeds sent to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Wow! How could a stamper not want to take part? On top of it all, SSD has the most fun line of stamps and sentiments...all guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I love the sketch that Teri did. Very simple, which you know if you've been following my blog, is always a challenge for me to keep it CAS. But, I tried on this one, really I did. I used the curved sentiment from "Bras #1" to mimic the circle shapes on the two corners. I stamped and embossed the bra image using Stampendous' new Bright Pink embossing powder. The sentiment went on a banner strip, embossed in Chocolate embossing powder. A scrap of velvet rick rack and a tiny pink rhinestone completed the card. It was hard to stop there, but I did! Aren't you proud of me? Be sure to visit the SSD blog to see what the other players and the SSD design team (including my good friend, Wendy Jordan) have done with this week's sketch. Happy stamping!
