All in One Fall Harvest

As we head into the fall and holiday seasons, we suddenly seem to be crunched for time. All those fabulous ideas that we've "pinned", and copied, now need time to create. This is the reason that Stampendous has released several new designs for fall and holiday card and craftmaking that are "All in Ones", meaning that they have a background, a focal point, and a sentiment all in one. They can  be simply stamped onto a card, tag, or gift bag...add a little color...and you're done! So simple that you could do this as a family night project, involving the kids, and the designs are so cute that everyone will love them.

One of these designs is this cute Harvest Owl. I just love his menswear-look plaid background, the fun shape, the doodles on him/her and the simple saying for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and fall harvest.

For this card I went a bit further than CAS (clean and simple), and added a stenciled I Beams  background on the golden yellow card. I sanded a panel of Core'dinations Vintage cardstock, and stamped the Stampendous Ornate Border in black, and adhered it as a pocket on the front. The stamped, colored (with Chameleon markers), and cut out image was tucked in the top, and the ribbon was added to finish it off.

We have several team members posting with these fun new designs today...check them out!

Dreamweaver: Happy Thanksgiving!

As we officially head into the holiday season, the Dream Team are challenging all of our followers to be especially "Thankful and Thoughtful" during the month of November. We hope that you will link your creations with this theme in mind on the Dream It Up! blog using the Inlinkz tool. Our "thanks" to you is providing you with the opportunity to win the stencil of your choice, and a bonus stencil of our choosing could be yours for using Dreamweaver product(s) in your artwork. I'm posting this for you today:

I'm giving thanks this week that I happened to have this card from a couple years ago that I could use for this post. Lol. Life always gets sooo busy this time of the year. It features the Dreamweaver Cornucopia paste-embossed in Glossy Black on a circle of kraft cardstock. When dry, I ran the piece through my laminator with a sheet of orange-red foil which adhered nicely using this technique. Then I placed the stencil over the top and pasted the sentiment. When dry, I stamped the edges with a crackle design, and ink-distressed around the edges. Over the top of a panel of plaid cardstock, the warm, fall look was complete.

By the way, the Dream Team are very THANKFUL when our followers are THOUGHTFUL enough to leave us a nice comment on our posts! Here's the "A" team lineup for this week, as well as our very special guest designer, Linda Neff!

Dreamweaver: Happy HallowThanksMas! - Week Two

Sometimes in the flurry of elaborate projects, we forget how wonderful it is to create something simple and elegant. This card is that example.

The Tole Leaves Square stencil was paste-embossed in gold on ivory cardstock, and once dry, cut into four tiles and mounted on a panel of Bazzill green cardstock. Wrapped with a tied band of May Arts gorgeous ribbon, matted with a thin line of mirror gold cardstock, and adhered to the pumpkin cardstock, the only last requirement was a simple Peel Off sticker sentiment.

What are you creating for Happy HallowThanksMas? Link it to the inlinkz tool at the bottom of this post, or on the Dreamweaver blog. Here's more inspiration from our "B" team:

Dreamweaver: A Happy HallowThanksMas Challenge!

Can you tell that sometimes Dream Team's "Fearless Leader", Pam Hornschu, has a hard time deciding on monthly challenges? Since the team will be taking turns all month with the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween, and we are doing a Christmas collaboration with Stampendous and Core'dinations the 13th - 17th, the confusion should be understandable. Therefore...happy HallowThanksMas! As usual, we'd love for you to play along with the challenge and link your creations to the Inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog. Just in case you are wondering...NO, YOU DO NOT NEED TO POST SOMETHING WITH ALL THREE HOLIDAYS ON IT! However, you get bonus points for actually using Dreamweaver stencils and product on your creations! And bonus points might actually earn you an extra stencil as our monthly winner...just sayin'!

Here's my creation for today:

Playing with one of two new fall leaf stencils from Dreamweaver...the Maple Leaf. I mixed a "sludge paste" of regular white paste in a little cup, with a few drops of Ranger/Wendy Vecchi's Archival Reinkers. Her inspired colors are awesome to work with, and mix into the paste beautifully, without thinning the paste. Because I wanted the look of the leaf Potting Soil, Dandelion, Red Geranium, and a tiny bit at the end of Fern Green. I barely mixed these colors as I really did not want to create mud. The end result was just what I was hoping for, and still of a consistency that I could "sculpt" slightly with my palette knife. I pasted this on piece of DCWV Gauze Paper. When dry, I cut it out using the Dreamweaver Nested Frames, and matted it on a green frame as well. I used the new Dual Alphabet Dies to cut letters for the word "fall" from the same gauze paper, and adhered these over the Hexagon embossed green panel, along with a stamped "happy" from a Stampendous clear set. A little ink-distressing, some fun plaid paper, and a stick finished off this fun Fall card!
changing several colors, I had added a couple of drops each of the

Remember to visit the rest of the team, as well as our guest designer, as confusion takes rein...could be interesting!

As if that wasn't cool enough, Art Glitter is offering a 20% discount this month if you use the code DW20, and the Stencil with Style site is offering a 20% discount this month if you use the code SWS20!

Here's what I've created for today's post:

This card features the Dreamweaver Maple Branch and Script Thank You stencils, a few Memories Mists spray inks, and plenty of fun Art Glitter! The square panel was done in the double-glitter technique, but using a mix from the Carnival Pee Wee set, with Sand, and the background covered with Transparent Crystal. To tone down the fluorescent colors a bit, I lightly misted with Pale Ale and Amaretto Memories Mists. I used the Amaretto to spray through the Maple Branch stencil for additional fall leaves. The finishing touch was pasting the Thank You in Copper Embossing Paste over the card, sprinkling with a bit of the same glitters, and heating it similar to the Molten Magic technique. The end result is shimmery texture.

Check out this week's awesomeness which includes our super sparkly guest designer and previous Dream Team member...

Festively Distressed for Fall

The Dream Team are so excited to have the opportunity to play along with some unique Ranger Products in the Tim Holtz line...specifically, the Distressed Embossing Powders! Our own Louise Healy demonstrated how fabulous these are with the Dreamweaver Stencils when she created this card for a fun class at CHA Summer 2012:

Apparently, Tim Holtz agreed with all of us on this unique use of his product, so he very generously had Ranger (thanks, Patti!) send the team some samples to play and blog with. So...here we go!

Here's my post for today:

I Festively Distressed a simple paper mache box by applying Dreamweaver Matte Orange Paste over the lid. When dry, I applied DW Crackle Paste over the surface, and while wet, I sprinkled liberally with Tim Holtz Distress Powder in Walnut Stain over the surface. I carefully used my heat tool to melt the powder (remember...this powder does NOT get shiny when heated), and the crackling appeared as well. I placed my Dreamweaver Maple Branch stencil on the top, and using a dauber, I applied clear embossing ink to the design. This area was then embossed with the Tim Holtz Distress Powder in Old Paper. The sides of the box were inked with Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Walnut, before applying clear ink and embossing with the Walnut Distress Powder. Copper and Lettuce Adirondack Acrylic Dauber paint was used to cover the edge of the lid, before wrapping with May Arts suede cord. The leaf embellishment was created by applying copper tape to a scrap of paper and machine embossing one leaf from the Maple Branch, and a separate tag embossed with the Fall portion from the Four Seasons stencil. The leaf was cut out, and Distress Powders were added as well as some ink distressing.

For the next four weeks, on our regular Thursday posts, we will be featuring the wonderful things that you can do with Tim's Distress Powders and Dreamweaver Stencils. Leave comments on each of the team blog posts for opportunities to win one prize package for each of the four weeks:

Don't forget to play along with the Dream Team's monthly challenges for more opportunities to win some great stencil designs! October's challenge is Festively Fall, and November is CAS (clean and simple) Christmas! Link your creations on the Dream It Up! blog, or email pics to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com. Join us on Facebook as well! Lots of inspiration, and lots of fun!

Fall Colors Feed My Soul

I just got back from a wonderful whirlwind trip to Minnesota for Scrapfest at Mall of America, a short but wonderful visit with my uncle and cousins, and a gorgeous drive down to the southern portion of the state to visit friends and see my grandparents old home. Most of the week that I was there, the weather was cooler, and frosty during the night, which meant that the leaves were beginning to turn color along my drive. I followed the Great River Road, which follows along down the Mississippi River, and was enthralled by the colors...greens and vibrant yellows, with a healthy sprinkling of oranges and reds in the maple trees. So beautiful that it feeds your soul.

My post for Woodware UK this week celebrates the beginning of fall with the color combo of orange and brown. I did this card as a triptych of brown cardstock panels, paste-embossed in gold with the Dreamweaver Maple Branch stencil, and a heavy sprinkling of Stampendous glitters...Emerald, Red, and Gold Ultra Fine Jewel, and a few of the glitters from their Field & Forest Fringe Benefits Kit. I used a thoughtful sentiment from the Stampendous Perfectly Clear Sincere Sentiments set, stamped with Vintage Sepia Versafine ink. A looped and tied metallic baker's twine from Hemptique was the final touch.

Be sure to go to the Woodware UK blog as well as the team blogs for more fabulous fall inspiration!

Fall into Fall with Flair: Cherish Family Frame

The Super Novas at Paper Craft Planet are playing with new toys this week...specifically Zva Creative embellishments. These are the perfect elements to take any project from a card to home decor to the next level. We are especially excited to show how well their new colors work with our "Fall into Fall with Flair" theme!

For this frame, I used a plethora of Ranger Distress Stains on the unfinished base frame (purchased at Michael's for $1), and then embossed the new Stampendous Cling Decorative Grate with Aged Green Embossing Enamel over the surface.

To add to the fall theme, I copper paste-embossed the Dreamweaver Stencils' Maple Branch on the frame, and sprinkled with a few shades of Metallic F/X, also from Dreamweaver. Using the new DW Molten Magic technique, I applied my heat tool over the surface until all of the pasted leaves were bubbling up. Once cooled, I pressed with my fingertips to get just the texture that I wanted.

I attempted to ink stencil the Maple Branch on the ivory watercolor paper to match where the leaves left off on the frame. I stamped and embossed in Aged Wine Embossing Enamel the new Stampendous Cling Cherish Family sentiment.

At this point, my frame was pretty, but still needed that something...extra. Just a touch of bling. Zva Creative was just what the frame needed. I used the Champagne/Chocolate Flourish. I did add a touch of purple Sharpie on the few of the champagne colored crystals to go with the violet mica powders on the leaves. I added the smaller Chocolate Crystal Flourishes to the framed panel in the center. Oh, yeah. This is what I'm talking about...love those Flourishes!

Zva Creative produces many beautiful color groupings of high quality pearls, flowers and crystal embellishments that can be used on scrapbooking, card making and mixed media projects. Visit Zva’s gallery or blog for great project ideas and to find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva click HERE.
Want to win some Zva Creative  goodies of your own?  You can win the product featured here by leaving a comment on the Paper Craft Planet post, and we will pick one lucky winner at the end of the week.

Gotta Get Inky!

All of the month of September, the Dreamweaver Stencils' Dream Team are "Getting Inky with Stencils". These leaves the options wide open as there are so many ways to use ink with stencils, besides the obviously beautiful, tried-and-true, pouncing ink through the stencil with a good stencil brush or two.

My feature card today does NOT use that technique. However, I have played with ink and stencils in two ways. The hope panel was created by wiping the Leafy Branch stencil with Clearsnap ColorBox Chalk ink in Tangerine, and running it through my Big Shot Pro with a panel of faint wood-grain print cardstock to emboss the leaves and at the same time, transfer the ink for a simple and natural look. I added the hope sentiment in black embossing paste.

The other ink technique features the Dreamweaver Stencils Color Solutions Artist Grade Alcohol Inks in Aspen Leaf, Pumpkin, and Paprika placed in drops that mingled on the back of a panel of acetate. I love this technique as the transparent, yet saturated colors, remind me of stained glass. I paste-embossed the fall tree from the Four Seasons stencil on the front of the acetate panel, and added a black cardstock frame. Some Hemptique cording finishes it off.

All of this month should be a fabulous opportunity to learn a plethora (word for the day) of inky fun techniques, so be sure to play along with us. Link your creations to the mr. linky on the Dream It Up! blog, or email pics to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com. This month only, the two winners that are chosen can choose whichever stencil they want the most! (Pssst, I suggest one of the great LX stencil designs!) For more inky notions, check out what the rest of the team has been playing with:
