Festively Distressed for Fall

The Dream Team are so excited to have the opportunity to play along with some unique Ranger Products in the Tim Holtz line...specifically, the Distressed Embossing Powders! Our own Louise Healy demonstrated how fabulous these are with the Dreamweaver Stencils when she created this card for a fun class at CHA Summer 2012:

Apparently, Tim Holtz agreed with all of us on this unique use of his product, so he very generously had Ranger (thanks, Patti!) send the team some samples to play and blog with. So...here we go!

Here's my post for today:

I Festively Distressed a simple paper mache box by applying Dreamweaver Matte Orange Paste over the lid. When dry, I applied DW Crackle Paste over the surface, and while wet, I sprinkled liberally with Tim Holtz Distress Powder in Walnut Stain over the surface. I carefully used my heat tool to melt the powder (remember...this powder does NOT get shiny when heated), and the crackling appeared as well. I placed my Dreamweaver Maple Branch stencil on the top, and using a dauber, I applied clear embossing ink to the design. This area was then embossed with the Tim Holtz Distress Powder in Old Paper. The sides of the box were inked with Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Walnut, before applying clear ink and embossing with the Walnut Distress Powder. Copper and Lettuce Adirondack Acrylic Dauber paint was used to cover the edge of the lid, before wrapping with May Arts suede cord. The leaf embellishment was created by applying copper tape to a scrap of paper and machine embossing one leaf from the Maple Branch, and a separate tag embossed with the Fall portion from the Four Seasons stencil. The leaf was cut out, and Distress Powders were added as well as some ink distressing.

For the next four weeks, on our regular Thursday posts, we will be featuring the wonderful things that you can do with Tim's Distress Powders and Dreamweaver Stencils. Leave comments on each of the team blog posts for opportunities to win one prize package for each of the four weeks:

Don't forget to play along with the Dream Team's monthly challenges for more opportunities to win some great stencil designs! Festive Flames for Fall

The Dream Team are going "Festively Fall" this month, with so many fun ideas to put you in the fall holiday mood...be it Halloween, Thanksgiving, or the joy of cool, crisp weather once again!

My post today features another one of my fun little "lanterns", created using one of the small clear pails sold in most craft stores. Using the Dreamweaver Color Solutions drop by drop, I applied various fall shades (Paprika, Aspen Leaf, Pumpkin, and Creme Brulee) of the alcohol inks over a strip of acetate. The result is gorgeous transparent color. When dry, I paste-embossed the trees from the Four Seasons stencil with Matte Black paste across the opposite side of the acetate strip. Once dry, I rolled it slightly and inserted it into the pail. I also paste-embossed the fall tree on a black cardstock circle with a mist of orange, red, and yellow embossing pastes. Just a smidge from each color mixed slightly in a dosing cup was the perfect compliment to the pail. A small, flameless tealite, a punched border, and gorgeous May Arts ribbon were the finishing touches.

Be sure to play along with the team this month! Break out your fall-inspired designs, and link to the Dream It Up! blog, or email pics to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com for an opportunity to win a fabulous stencil design! Meanwhile, check out the rest of the team here:
