Paper Craft Planet Sketch Challenge and Play Date

Today the Paper Craft Planet Super Novas are excited to play along with  the Crafter's Companion team for our weekly sketch challenge, and we would love to have you play along too.  Here's the fun sketch above, and you can find more info on the PCP Blog as well!  If you would like to play along, upload your card to the PCP Gallery and tag it with SK061413. Here's my version of the sketch:

Since I pretty much have no product from Crafter's Companion (I think I need to do something about that, don't you?), I chose to break out my Dreamweaver and Stampendous products for this. My layered papers are all Bazzill, the top one machine-embossed with the Dreamweaver Mosaic Swirls, as well as the focal circle with the Orchid Crest design. Leaving the orchid stencil in place, I daubed Palette glue over the surface and heated it lightly until tacky. Then I broke out my tiny stencil brushes and several colors of Dreamweaver Metallic F/X powders to color the embossed design. A few rhinestones and a light tracing with my Sakura Clear Star pen, and I was satisfied. Since this card will end up being a sympathy card for a very close family friend who just lost her mother, I added appropriate thoughts from the Stampendous Friendly Phrases and the Sincere Sentiments set.

Now is your opportunity to check out both teams' sketch versions, and there's a bonus for doing so...
YES ~ there is a prize!!!  For each comment left on the blogs listed below, you will be entered into a drawing for a $20 gift certificate courtesy of Crafter's Companion.  ALSO, if you play along on our sketch challenge, you will be entered into the drawing again (just make sure you upload your card to the PCP Gallery with the tag listed above).   Deadline to enter your comments and/or sketch challenge cards is June 21, 2013 at midnight (ET).

Now here's who is playing along with us today ~ don't forget to leave some love for your chance to win the Crafter's Companion Gift Certificate!

A Quick Sketch and a Get Away!

My turn with this week's Friday sketch over at the Paper Craft Planet, and keeping it simple once again! I have to say that I cheated a bit here. Instead of creating the sketch and then creating the card, I went the opposite way. I had a pretty card that I had created for the Stampendous October 2012 catalog, and I thought that it would make a fun sketch...plus I got out of making a new card when I have absolutely no extra time right now! It's a girl-escape weekend! Woo hoo!

I created my version with a tent-fold card, so that the stamped banner could fold slightly around the edge. Don't you love the wavy sentiment from the Thoughtful Wishes Perfectly Clear set? Stampendous has a few of these styled in Fran Seiford's own hand-writing. The layered oval has been stamped with Cling Bluebird Branch, colored with Lyra Aquacolor...like crayons, but you can watercolor with them! Just use a wet brush over the colored areas to soften the colors. I hope this card provides you the incentive to break out your creative toys and play along with this week's sketch challenge. Upload yours to the Paper Craft Planet photo gallery with the SK041213 tag. Have a great weekend!

Ooh La La! It's a Celebration!

Such is life! Time does not stand still, no matter how insane your world becomes. Therefore, multi-tasking becomes the order of the day. Today's post features images from Stampendous being sneak-peaked all this week. Since I am also celebrating Susanna Boyd's (director and sweetheart of Paper Craft Planet) birthday along with the rest of the Super Novas, I'm mixing this all together. Somehow I feel that Susanna, with her sweet southern voice, and fab femininity, would really appreciate this snazzy hot pink corset with such great French style. So.....happy birthday, Susanna! Hope your day is filled with joie d' vivre!

As for the Stampendous images, the Cling Corset, the Cling Lace background, and the sentiment from the new Perfectly Clear French Flower Cart, will all be available through your local stamp stores, or on the Stampendous web-site within the next week or so, so check the What's New? portion of the site for updates. Though we are in the middle of fall and rapidly heading toward the winter holidays, you will be excited to see what we have for the spring season as well!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Stampendous team sneak peaks all this week, starting with today's players:

Pam Hornschu (you are here)

After leaving some love for the above ladies, head on over to the Paper Craft Planet and leave some birthday love for Susanna, and check out the celebration that the Super Novas are planning!

Fall into Fall with Flair: Cherish Family Frame

The Super Novas at Paper Craft Planet are playing with new toys this week...specifically Zva Creative embellishments. These are the perfect elements to take any project from a card to home decor to the next level. We are especially excited to show how well their new colors work with our "Fall into Fall with Flair" theme!

For this frame, I used a plethora of Ranger Distress Stains on the unfinished base frame (purchased at Michael's for $1), and then embossed the new Stampendous Cling Decorative Grate with Aged Green Embossing Enamel over the surface.

To add to the fall theme, I copper paste-embossed the Dreamweaver Stencils' Maple Branch on the frame, and sprinkled with a few shades of Metallic F/X, also from Dreamweaver. Using the new DW Molten Magic technique, I applied my heat tool over the surface until all of the pasted leaves were bubbling up. Once cooled, I pressed with my fingertips to get just the texture that I wanted.

I attempted to ink stencil the Maple Branch on the ivory watercolor paper to match where the leaves left off on the frame. I stamped and embossed in Aged Wine Embossing Enamel the new Stampendous Cling Cherish Family sentiment.

At this point, my frame was pretty, but still needed that something...extra. Just a touch of bling. Zva Creative was just what the frame needed. I used the Champagne/Chocolate Flourish. I did add a touch of purple Sharpie on the few of the champagne colored crystals to go with the violet mica powders on the leaves. I added the smaller Chocolate Crystal Flourishes to the framed panel in the center. Oh, yeah. This is what I'm talking about...love those Flourishes!

Zva Creative produces many beautiful color groupings of high quality pearls, flowers and crystal embellishments that can be used on scrapbooking, card making and mixed media projects. Visit Zva’s gallery or blog for great project ideas and to find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva click HERE.
Want to win some Zva Creative  goodies of your own?  You can win the product featured here by leaving a comment on the Paper Craft Planet post, and we will pick one lucky winner at the end of the week.

Playing with the Paper Craft Planet Sketch

I'm in charge of the sketch challenge this week over at Paper Craft Planet, and I'd love to encourage all of you to come play along. The layout is simple, as you can see at left. Just remember when you upload your creation to the Paper Craft Planet Gallery, to add the SK081712 tag to your link.

My version features the Stampendous Pensive Portrait cling stamp, along with the Perfectly Clear Corset Ladies and Timeless Tags sets. Stamped with Rich Cocoa Memento on shades of pink and kraft, embellished with only ribbon and a key, this is the type of card that can be done in mass quantities!

3D Challenge Tuesday...Stenciling Elegance for the Holidays

Looking for some last minute hand-made gift ideas still? How about a fun treat jar, beautifully stenciled? As my first posting as a Paper Craft Planet Supernova, I thought I'd share a fun stenciling technique with definite WOW appeal!

The supplies needed are shown above and include: metal stencils (Dreamweaver Stencils' Swirl Tree and Antler Snowflake), Translucent Embossing Paste (Dreamweaver Stencils), palette knife/spreader, glitter (Stampendous Multi Crystal), removable tape, and a candy jar (with flat sides).

Step 1: Tape stencil onto flat surface on all four sides using removable tape.

Step 2: Spread Translucent Embossing Paste over surface of stencil with palette knife at slight angle.
Step 3: Holding palette knife at 90 degree angle, scrape off excess paste and return to container.
Step 4: Remove tape from three sides of stencil. Using fourth side as hinge, lift and remove the stencil. Clean stencil and palette knife immediately in warm, soapy water with a soft scrub brush. Dry with soft towel.

Step 5: Pour glitter over surface. Pour off excess and return to container. Set aside jar to dry for 20 minutes.
Step 6: Repeat on other three sides.

Step 7: Follow the same steps to stencil the snowflake on the lid as well.

Since you are probably now thinking, "I'd hardly call this a quick and easy project!", that would probably be the case if you were only creating one. However, if you were to follow the same instructions to create several projects at the same time (gift bags, cards, tags, ornaments, etc.), then you can complete quite a few in the same crafting session. While one is drying and waiting for the next step, you can be working on the next...sort of a round robin of creative fun!
