A Very "Distressing" Week with Stampendous

Who says that distressing your creations has to be stressful? Stampendous carries a perfect line of products, and fifteen amazingly talented team members, to help you create whatever look you want. From CAS (clean and simple), to distressed, to OMGeee over-the-top, we've got it all!

One of the industry's favorite artists, Andy Skinner, has designed some über-cool Cling Stamp images for Stampendous, and the distressed look is pretty much a given when using his designs. Below is a video where he shares his love of mixed media design:

I created the above mixed media piece using Andy Skinner's Cling Industrial and Nature sets. See the crackle edging all around the "frame"? It's just the crackle image from the Industrial set stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento ink on sage green cardstock. Period. How cool is that? What appears to be an artist's canvas is simply Core'dinations Vintage cardstock, sanded a bit here and there, and inked around the edges. The barn, fence, trees, and birds are all elements from Andy's Nature set, and were stamped in black ink, as well as a second tree on another piece of cardstock. All were colored with a wash of a wet paintbrush and Inktense Watercolor Pencils from Derwent, with more Inktense coloring and shading here and there.

Spoonfuls of Stampendous' Fran•tagé Spoonful of Rust mixture were added at the bottom, and heated from underneath to save all the yummy texture and color from blowing all over the workspace! All the essential elements for Fran•tagé-style distressing comes in just that one cool container...various sizes and colors of embossing enamels, Color Fragments, Mica chips, etc. You seriously NEED to have this product...well, and so many other products under the "Fran•tagé" category on the website. They're a distressing extravaganza! Oh, and all of those strange bits of ephemera that you've been saving for the perfect mixed media project? Just throw some Essentials over the top, and heat from underneath, and your ephemera becomes one with your project, just as you envisioned.

So, head on over to the other team members links, check them out, leave some love, order the cool stuff HERE, and begin to DE-STRESS yourself with a bit of DISTRESSING!

Pretty in Paste: Day Four...Dreamweaver Thursday

Have you seen enough embossing paste yet? Of course not! Dreamweaver's Embossing Pastes are so versatile and high quality, that everything you create with them becomes a work of art.

My card today features the same step-by-step process as I demonstrated in my tutorial on Monday, only using different stencils.

The Dreamweaver Snowflakes background stencil was paste-embossed in Pearlescent paste on a slate blue card, sprinkled with the Stampendous Ice Blue Specialty Enamel, and heated until bubbly and set.

I used the Oval Ornaments Nesting Dies to create one ornament, which I paste-embossed the Southwest Snowflake design in Silver paste, sprinkled this with Silver Embossing Powder, and heated until bubbly and set.

Just a few rhinestone stickers, and a swirl of silver tinsel cord finished off this icy blue textural greeting card.

Putting a Fine Point on It...I'm Wild About You!

The Stampendous team are wildly enthusiastic about our new animal images introduced in April. They just are begging to be layered with plenty of wild ingredients...Fran•tagé Essentials like Color Fragments, Aged Embossing Enamels, Micas, etc. Add in some Dreamweaver layers of ink-stenciled I-Beams and die cut Monstera leaves, all that is left is to highlight the focal point...the new Cling Pen Pattern Lion. He's been stamped in the center of that background panel, colored with Copic Sketch Markers, and then a bit of "pointillism" added for a more "wild" feel. The perfect sentiment comes from the new Perfectly Clear Wild Sayings set.

Dreamweaver: Frilly Fabulous Frou Frou Fairy!

Break out the frou frou! For the month of February, the Dream Team are going Frilly and Fabulous! Vintage, retro, or modern, adding extra charm with fun Fran•tagé products from Stampendous, ribbons and lace from May Arts, buttons, crystals, charms, or even creating your own dimensional decor! A snippet or a pile, whatever your creative heart desires! Remember to link your creations using the Inlinkz tool on the Dream It Up! blog for a chance to win the stencil of your choice! Bonus points for using Dreamweaver and/or Stampendous product in your work of heart.

Here's what I've been playing with:

Can you say "frilly fabulous frou frou fairy" five times fast? No? Well, neither can I. Fortunately, I only needed to say it once, and create it once, 'cuz this cutie has a LOT going on!

The new Dreamweaver Fairy has been traced with a VersaMark pen and embossed in a few areas with Stampendous Crystal Embossing Powder to keep her ethereal look. A few sprinkles of Stampendous Shaved Ice on the heated powder adds the perfect amount of iridescence. There's also a torn panel of machine-embossed cardstock with the new I-Beams design. The raised areas have been brushed with Clearsnap Coral Chalk Ink, and the card base and panel have been "encrusted" using items from the Stampendous Fran•tagé Pink Encrusted Jewel Kit. A Stampendous sentiment is added along with a Dreamweaver Die Cut Fern, and a section of beautiful May Arts organza roses. The roses were spritzed with Dreamweaver Memories Mists in Mango Lemonade and Pink Lemonade. When you are creating something with this much frou frou, it helps to have a monochromatic color scheme. This way your eyes can relax and enjoy the varieties of shades, dimension, and texture.

Woodware UK: Backgrounds Come Front and Center!

Backgrounds are the challenge for the Woodware girls this week, and mine is all about Fran•táging and Encrusting the Stampendous way!

I love this Vintage Piano Perfectly Clear set, and the opportunity to layer the images and papers, was only made more exciting by the chance to spritz all with coffee (yes, coffee!), and place little piles of Aged Bronze Embossing Enamels, mica flakes, and chunky glass glitter in various areas. You must heat this from underneath to prevent all of it from blowing over your workspace, but once it does, it creates an awesome effect of texture and glam! You can get a kit with all of the Fran•táging elements through Woodware UK, or on the Stampendous website.

Have you seen the other background creations from this week? If not, you definitely need to check them out on the Woodware UK blog!
