Playing with the SCS Sketch Challenge

Yep. It's another quickie post for a quickie card following this week's Split Coast Stampers sketch challenge from Taylor Usry. I used the Stampendous Perfectly Clear Railway Set, along with the Cling Railway Poster and Cling Locomotive. I finished it off with a sentiment from the Perfectly Clear Guys and Gears set. It was so fun to create a masculine card by layering these fun elements, and took me no more than ten minutes to complete! Thanks, Taylor, for the chance to play with your sketch!

Stampendous is Wobbling and Wiggling

Wobbles_lion

Sometimes the Stampendous teams get to play with new toys from other companies. This week is just one of those occasions. We're "wobbling" this week along with Action Wobble Springs.

We think many of our images are perfect for wobbling, including the obvious ones...the Kiddos, Fluffles, Changito...but also the less obvious ones, as some of the team will be happy to show you this week.

My Wobble card today, features the prize for today's posts, Cling Lion Baby, along with the Cling Giggle Wiggle, that was used in the background with the Wiggle word emphasized. Yes, he is Copic colored in pink, but he's confident in his masculinity...hee hee. His mane is also soft and fluffy with the addition of Pixie Pink Fun Flock from the Stampendous Pastel Pizzazz Flock and Glitter Kit.

As usual with a Stampendous collaboration week, there are prizes involved for those who hop along and leave comments with each day's players, as well as the Stampendous Impressions! blog.

Here's who is playing today:

We'll choose one of the above bloggers at random and they will choose one commenter on their blog at random (so be sure to comment on all of them) to win:

Challenges Under the Sea

Quickie post featuring a card created for two of the challenges at Split Coast Stampers this week...the CAS sketch designed by Stampendous team-mate, Tenia Nelson, and the Color Combo for this week...to use turquoise, pacific blue, and navy. I gathered up the appropriate papers, and because of the color selection, I went with a couple of the Stampendous' sea images...the Cling Mermaid, and the Bubbles Background, with a sentiment from one of the Perfectly Clear sets. To keep the watery feel, I used Lyra Aquacolors...kind of like crayons, but when you brush water over them, they develop a lovely watercolor look.

A Splash of Blue

The Woodware UK girls are adding a splash this week...of blue! The challenge is to use black & white with a splash of blue, so of course, my splash is aqua blue. The design of the card follows the Split Coast Stampers' sketch challenge, so I'm covering more than one base this week.

For the background, I stamped the newly-released Stampendous Cling Lacy Background with Onyx Versafine ink on a white base. For the focus panel, I used the Perfectly Clear Chandelier set, and glitzed it up a bit with aqua crystals.

The sentiment is from the Perfectly Clear Cherub Wishes set, and is stamped inside one of the ornate frames from the Chandelier set. Very CAS, and perfect for many occasions. Try this challenge on for yourself. Meanwhile, check out the rest of the team blogs linked through the Woodware UK blog all this week.

More Christmas in August With the Dream Team

Playing along with the Dream Team this month can definitely add to your stash of Christmas cards for the upcoming holiday season, as well as provide the opportunity to win some new stencils for yourself! Just in case you thought your cards would have to be complicated to have a chance to win...well, you're wrong! The best Christmas cards are the simple ones that are easy to reproduce in mass quantities.

My card this week is a perfect example of this. Both the red panel and the smaller green panel were simply machine-embossed. Just be careful with the "sandwich" layering to protect your stencils! Here's how Dreamweaver recommends that you do it:

1) Base plate for whatever machine you have (Big Shot, Big Shot Pro, Cuttlebug, Vagabond, etc.)
2) Stencil facing down (find the item number on the edge and face that down on the base plate).
3) Cardstock face down on top.
4) Embossing Mat (Dreamweaver carries a slightly larger one to cover the LX size stencils).
5) TWO clear plates on top. Make sure these are not warped from previous die cutting. We recommend that you have a designated set of plates for just your stencils. TWO plates on top keep your stencil flat. NEVER have the stencil on the top of the sandwich.

For the red panel, I used the newly-released Christmas Borders background (btw, this matches the Ornate tree from last year!) I spritzed the back of the panel with some isopropyl alcohol (aka rubbing alcohol) for a deeper impress, but not absolutely necessary.

For the smaller green panel, I used the Small Xmas Tree, and followed the same process. When both panels were embossed, I brushed Galaxy Gold Brilliance ink over the surface to highlight the embossed design. I finished the card by adhering the layers on a kraft card and adding a jute woven trim from May Arts Ribbon and a star brad.

Please play along with the team this month. We love to see what YOU come up with...remember, inspiration can go both ways! Just link your creations to the Dream It Up! blog link, or email pics of your creations to lynell@dreamweaverstencils.com. Using predominantly Dreamweaver product gives you the added bonus of having your creation featured on the Dream It Up! blog and/or the Dreamweaver Facebook page. Go check it out, and while you're there...LIKE us! Here is the fabulous newly-released stencil that we are giving away for the August challenge winner:

Here's the list of Dream Team members playing along this week. I bet at least one of them will be using this new stencil design!

Challenges with Gears

Quickie post today featuring images from the Stampendous Perfectly Clear Gears Kiddoset. The little boy in this reminds me of my son, Matt, when he was little. He always had to know how things work...take them apart...put them back together. I have a photo of him similar to this pose where he was "working" on his first bike, training wheels and all. So cute.

Anyway, I'm linking this card to two challenges from Split Coast Stampers...the Tuesday color challenge, and today's sketch challenge. Hope you have a very creative day!

Sentimentally Simple

CAS cards can be simply rewarding. They don't take much time. They don't leave a mess all over your workspace. And if you have the opportunity to get two challenges out of way by creating in a Clean and Simple fashion...it's just bonus!

For the month of August, the Stampendous team are highlighting sentiments as a perfect way to celebrate a huge variety of unique sentiments that have just been released. And if you play along and link on the Stampendous Impressions site, you can win one of three prizes of the sentimental variety.

For this card, I kept it CAS and navy and white to follow the rules for this week's CAS182 challenge at Split Coast Stampers. The Cling Breathe was stamped with Tsukineko Danube Blue Memento ink on a white card. Torn blue paper with a white core mimics the crashing waves of the sea. The shape of the jumbo brad hints at a starfish to finish off the theme.
