LAD-Star Sprite Holiday Card
I promised that I would be posting more with this darling just released single, "Sprite", from Lizzie Anne Designs. Isn't she cute? What I really love about her, is that she is versatile. She can be the birthday sprite, the tooth fairy, the get well fairy, or just a have-a-happy-day sprite! In this case, once again she is a holiday sprite. She's been stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics, had glitter added, and cut out to pop away from the card. To add to the magic, I stamped and embossed the star wreath from the November mix, "The Key to Happiness", on the panel behind her. I didn't have the perfect color of EP for this, so I mixed ultra fine crystal glitter with Jade PEARLustre EP. I love how the circles on the DP mimic this sparkly wreath. I added a rhinestone to her magic wand, and this fun sentiment brad from Queen & Co. that I just bought a couple of weeks ago at the Ontario Scrapbook Expo. One of my best buds, Laura Weed (who also happens to be Graphics Coordinator at Stampendous) and her fun mum, walked the show with me. Had a blast, and spent lots of cash! (Those tend
to go hand in hand, don't they? Don't forget to check out the rest of the Lizzie Anne Design team for their fun takes on the latest two singles, Sprite and Starburst, as well as the LAD blog. Inspiration galore!

Paste Embossing and Beyond
I love, love, love all the new release stencils from Dreamweaver Stencils for the holidays. This is one of my particular favorites, "Holly and Swirls". I have made so many cards with this one, some of which I've posted, and some that are out for publication. I stenciled with Embossing Paste for this one. The process goes like this: 1) Place the stencil on the surface to be stenciled (in this case, velveteen paper) and tape down around edges with removable tape. 2) Using a palette knife, apply the paste across the stencil kind of like icing on a cake. Don't press too hard as you go, or it will push the paste under the bridges of the stencil. 3) Go over the surface again to remove excess paste for a smooth surface. 4) Remove stencil carefully and immediately place in warm, soapy water to clean. 5) Set aside stenciled piece to dry. Drying time can vary depending on humidity, which paste is used (glossy and metallic take longer), and thickness of application. Usually somewhere between 30 minutes and 1 hour. Now, for this card, once the paste was dry, I placed the stencil back over the surface and sponged some Versamark ink over the pasted surface. Then I sprinkled the berries with red embossing powder, heat set that, and sprinkled green over the leaves and heat set that...all very loosely as I still wanted the gold to show through. The stencil needs to be in place while you sprinkle the powders or they will get trapped in the fibers of the velveteen paper. I embellished the card with metallic gold cardstock run through the corrugator, lacy borders, and the sentiment which is another stencil run through the Big Shot with the gold cardstock. Happy holiday creating!

Lizzie Anne Designs Sketch Monday
If you are here looking for the Lizzie Anne new release post, please scroll down...but you can enjoy this one along the way! :)
This is my first time playing along with the Lizzie Anne sketch challenge. Today's sketch was designed by Joslyn, so be sure to hop on over to her blog to check out her amazing version! I went super simple on this one. Those of you who know me, know this was a struggle. I like clean and simple, but I tend to have a compulsion to put on ribbon, and sparkles, and buttons, and stickers, and...you get the point. I liked the simple look of Joslyn's sketch, so I forced myself to keep it CAS. I stamped the three images on three strips of white cardstock using Versamark ink, and brushed chalks over the surface of each. (Tip: I masked off the sentiment portion of the ornaments stamp with a piece of tape before inking, but be sure to remove the tape before stamping!) Then I inked the sentiment portion only on the ornaments stamp for the message at the bottom of the card. The final touch was the buttons and twine. However, I think if I were to do large multitudes of this card, I would leave off tying the twine through each button. Gets a little tedious after a while! Be sure to check out the rest of the team, play along, and post your creation to the Lizzie Anne Designs customer gallery. Happy stamping!

LAD-Sparkle Sprite Holiday Card
Today is a Lizzie Anne Designs new release day, featuring two new singles..."Sprite" and "Starburst". I love both, but my absolute fave is the "Sprite". For this card I stamped her on a Nestie Label die cut panel with Memento ink and a second time on another piece of white cardstock. Both were colored with Copics and glitter was added to highlight because, after all, today she is a Sparkle "Sprite"! I cut out the extra dress and adhered it over the other, cut around the wings so that they could bend upwards for flight (and to highlight the green glittered panel underneath). The turquoise panel was stamped randomly with the "Star Wreath" stamp using Versamark ink. Because I wanted to use the "Holiday Sparkle" sentiment from the "Oh Christmas Tree" set, I needed to add more holiday elements. So, I
punched snowflakes to adhere behind the sparkly flowers and I used the leftover punched square to stamp my sentiment on. To emphasize the sparkle, I added a Diamond Dot Snowflake sticker behind the rhinestone on her wand, and another rhinestone in the center of the snowflake. The ribbon is sparkly with sequins, and the doily border adds the final festive touch. Definitely a girly card! Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has created for this release (list at right), and run back over to the Lizzie Anne Designs site to purchase these two seriously sweet stamps! I plan on posting more with these cuties in the next few days, so come back!

Snow Silent
Quickie post today featuring an oldie-but-a-goodie from Stampendous. The birch trees were stamped and embossed in Winter Wonderland embossing powder across the deep blue panel. I created the snow fall using a glue pen and crystal glitter. The focal image was stamped and embossed in silver three times...once on white cardstock, once on navy, and once on light blue. Various parts were cut out and glued on or popped up with dimensional foam tape. All layers were adhered to a silver card. Enjoy your Sunday!

STMC30-Festive Face Card

Going festive with this week's Stampendous Saturday Sketch Challenge, week 30! Wow! Can't believe we've done 30 weeks of challenges, and they've been so much fun. This week our sketch was created by Rachel, so hop on over to her blog and check out her vampy version, before heading to Jenn, Cyndi, and Wendy. After all that eye candy, you will just have to feel inspired. So, get stamping and create your own take on this week's sketch, post it online with a link to the Stampendous blog. Remember, two prizes each week are given for the most creative. I chose to use this new image from Stampendous which comes as a cling set, "Cling Family Tree". It has kind of a quirky retro feel to it, so I went with more retro inspired colors, paper, and the pompom fringe at the bottom. I stamped the image twice and colored with Copics. I covered the top one with flock and glitter from one of the new combo packs from Stampendous, "Boughs & Baubles", which is all Christmas colors of glitter and flock. I popped this tree up over the top of the other image after cutting the face portion out.
The sentiment was stamped on a half circle with faux stitching (I was too lazy to break out the sewing machine). I love the fringe, but to get it to dangle properly I adhered it to the card on foam tape. Finally, I added a bow from this yummy polka dot satin ribbon, with a button and twine in the center. I love how all the circles repeat themselves in the paper, fringe, ribbon, sentiment, and the baubles on the tree. Hope you play along!Pam

Dreamweaver Design-An-Ornament
On my last Dreamweaver Stencils post, I mentioned the wide variety of uses these stencils promise. One that I did not mention, is the numerous stencils that are a shape only...a vase, a shirt, a leaf, a kimono, etc., and in this case, an ornament. This leaves what you fill in the empty space totally up to you. I chose to use the "Poinsettia" stencil. Yes, this is the same stencil that you've seen me design with already, including the "Pretty in Pink" card that I presented for the Dreamweaver blog hop. In the case of this ornament card, I ran the mirror silver cardstock panel through the Big Shot with the "Oval Ornament" stencil (there is also a round ornament stencil available). I then replaced the stencil over the embossed panel before placing the "Large Poinsettia" stencil on top and taping down the layers with removable tape. I carefully spread the Pearlescent embossing paste over the surface, removed the stencils to clean, and set aside the panel to dry for about 20-30 minutes. Meanwhile, I ran the bottom portion of the navy card through the Big Shot with the "Large Lace Border" stencil. I added a light blue edged border across the card, and once the panel was dry, I added a sheer ribbon bow and a metal sentiment. The really cool part of this technique is that you can design your ornament to suit the recipient. You could go elegant as in this case, or fun and whimsical by stenciling flip flops, a penguin, a dog or cat, Santa, Celtic knots, etc. You could even stamp a design on the ornament after running through the Big Shot. Just place the ornament stencil back over the embossed surface to mask off the areas that you don't want stamped, and stamp your design over the raised surface.
