Lizzie Anne Designs' Team Challenge and 50% Off Sale!

This month for Lizzie Anne Designs' team challenge, we have a color inspiration as seen at left. Don't you love these colors? I'd love to have this room! Predominantly mint and beige, with touches of pink and yellow. My card was slightly more than "touched" with pink, but I'm still happy with the result. This was my first opportunity to break into my "Vintage Birthday" Little Bits set, and I used one image and two sentiments from this set. I also created a pink "lace" border using the border stamp from "Timeless Textures" Sixlets set. Unbelievable, with all the paper I happen to have, I didn't have a true mint green, just a darker jade green. So I created my card base from this and dry-brushed ivory acrylic paint over it to tone down the color and add some texture. I stamped the birthday sentiment over the MME plaid border, and paper-pieced the hot air balloon from the same paper. This was popped up on layers of Nestie die cut scalloped ovals that were run through the Big Shot with the Cuttlebug embossing folder. Another Nestie die created the ribbon banner with the appropriate sentiment. I love that all the sets of Lizzie Anne Designs images have a variety to work with and make sense with each other at the same time! Go check out their site to see what I'm referring to. BTW, the are running a huge 50% off retired images sale right now. Trust me...you'll want them all! Be sure to check out the rest of the team blogs for more LAD inspiration. You'll be saying "WOW" on each page! Don't forget to leave comments for all of us. We live for validation! LOL

Lizzie Anne Designs Sketch #158!

This week is my opportunity for the Lizzie Anne Designs weekly challenge. My sketch design can be seen at left. Really simple. My version features the Simply Single "Ageless" and the swirly cupcake image from the Sixlets set, "Banner Birthday". Since chocolate cake with pink frosting is just about my absolute fave (next to German's chocolate), I went with the pink and brown color combo. I recently purchased this super-fun sprinkle paper from the Scrapbook Expo in Anaheim, so of course I had to use it. I added sprinkles to my cupcake with a marker and a little glitter for that extra sugary appeal. Hurry quick over to the Lizzie Anne Designs website and grab your own yummy stamp images to play along with us this week. Post your versions of the sketch challenge to the Lizzie Anne Designs Facebook page HERE. New releases are coming out this week on the first, so be sure to pop by again for a visit to all the team's blogs. I also have the
Project of the Month feature and spotlight in the April
issue of the Lizzie Anne Designs newsletter. Sign up for your emailed edition HERE. Have a sweet-as-a-cupcake week!

Witch Hang Out

A quickie post today featuring another card created for the Lizzie Anne Designs team call out. This is such a happy little witch! I decided to go monochromatic with just a touch of orange. Added a little glitter, 'cuz she's probably like Glenda the Good Witch...so good she sparkles. The sentiment and the spider web are from Stampendous. Hope all of you are enjoying the fall weather and getting into the "spirit" of the season!

It's A Banner Day!

I've had to contain my excitement for several days since I received the fab news that I am now a Lizzie Anne Design Team Member! (Lizzie Anne blog announcement) I had so much fun designing with their sweetly cute line of images and sentiments, so I am thrilled to know that I get to continue playing with them along with the rest of this amazingly talented group of women. Congrats to my fellow new team member, Anya Schrier, as well. I chose to post the card above mainly because it seemed appropriate for such an announcement. I've had this printed paper forever and love the color combination, so that was the jumping off point. Don't you just love the tiny little birdies holding the birthday banner? I decided I wanted to add a pocket to the card with a surprise (isn't that what birthdays are all about?), so I Copic-colored this flower and cut it out (yes, around each petal!) and attached the flower to a corrugated stem with a computer-generated sentiment. I would have used a Lizzie Anne sentiment, but when I was created samples for their DT call, I didn't have a huge selection to choose from...I'm sure that will be changing rapidly! Lol. Please come back often to see where this latest fork in my creative journey takes me!
