Woodware UK: Crafty Cardmaker's Challenge...All Mixed Up!

The Woodware team are playing along with the Crafty Cardmaker's challenge once again. This time with Mixed Media, and boy, have I mixed my medias for this one!

My base is a wood door hanger from Woodware, which I slapped on a coat of black acrylic paint over the surface. When dry (just a few minutes), I taped my Dreamweaver Large Scales stencil on top, and spread Crackle Embossing Paste over it, removed the stencil to clean, and set aside the hanger to dry.

Meanwhile, I played with my dimensional elements...

First, I pasted on acetate the Dreamweaver Scallop and Nautilus shell stencils with Gold and Pearlescent pastes, respectively. Both were sprinkled with various Metallic F/X powders before heating with a heat tool until bubbly and mostly dry. You can pat down the bubbling a bit after it's cooled. These were cut out and set aside.

Secondly, I dripped Color Solutions over a few white paper flowers and set these aside to dry.

Thirdly, I die cut the Dreamweaver Leafless Tree out of orange cardstock to mimic coral.

Finally, I stamped the Stampendous Cling Mermaid on tissue paper and colored her with markers. I used a clear medium to adhere her over the now dry and crackled surface of my door hanger.

Now I could really have fun...I added color to the background using a large stencil brush and my Splendor ink pad with all of it's palette of colors. I traced the Zen Fish stencil over the top using a Sakura Micron Pen, and colored with markers. Then I applied Translucent Paste over the surface of the fish, and let dry.

Once dry, I used Glossy Accents to adhere sprinkles of Stampendous Color Fragments, adhered Mark Richards Pearl Clusters, a portion of my die cut "coral", and my Molten Magic sea shells with my bright flowers.

I love projects like this as you never know quite where they'll take you! Play along with the challenge by submitting your Mixed Media project on the Crafty Cardmakers blog site. For more inspiration, visit the Woodware blog to see what our team has been "mixing" up!

Woodware UK and Crafty Cardmakers Challenge Takes Wing!

Welcome to another Woodware UK post with the Crafty Cardmakers! Our challenge from them for this month, was to create "Things with Wings", and oh, do I have a beauty for this one!

This card features the Dreamweaver Butterfly which I machine-embossed/debossed into Mercart turquoise aluminum. I then sanded off the color from the raised areas and off the edges to reveal the silver under the turquoise. Placing several drops of Color Solutions inks (Citron and Sugarplum) onto the applicator felt, along with a few drops of the Thinner/Cleaner, and pounced it over the surface to add the lime and purple tones. All that was needed next, was to cut the panel, mat it with white cardstock, and adhere it over a gorgeous bow onto my card. A very simple card to create, with such a wow impact!

Woodware UK: And a One and a Two and a Three!

Once again, the Woodware UK team are joining up with the Crafty Cardmakers for a challenge. This time the challenge is 1 - 2 - 3! One focal image, two patterned papers, and  three embellishments!

My focal image is the Stampendous Cling Violets which I stamped and colored with markers over a background paper stamped with the Cling Decorative Grate which seems to give it a tapestry appearance. A green striped paper is adhered to the kraft card, and my three embellishments? Adhesive backed lace, thin yellow ribbon, and purple brad fasteners. Oh, and don't tell anyone...I cheated a bit and added a banner sentiment from Stampendous!

Don't forget to check out what the Woodware team has been creating for this challenge, as well as the Crafty Cardmakers!

Woodware UK: Playing With the Crafty Cardmakers

The Woodware UK team are pleased to be playing along with the Crafty Cardmakers this week, the challenge will be open on their blog for two weeks. If you would like to play along with us please check the Crafty Cardmaker rules then use the link on the Crafty Cardmakers Blog to add your card or if you are not a blogger yet you can e-mail your card to Dorothy as usual Dorothy@woodware.co.uk  and she will post it and add it to the Crafty Cardmakers Blog.

My post features the Stampendous Cling Jumbo Tiger Lily stamped over the Woodware Recycled Crafty Bag in dark brown dye ink, and the accompanying flourish image stamped in orange dye ink over scraps of textured and printed paper from Canvas Corp. Tissue paper was stamped to match, and a Super Duper Punched Tag was stamped to match. To jazz the tag up a bit more, a panel of double-sided adhesive was added to the tag, and covered in Stampendous Orange Citrus Fun Flock. The excess was brushed off before stamping the tiger lily once again over the flocked surface. Some Stampendous Dot Sparklers were colored orange to match with Identipen permanent markers for extra bling. This bag and tag fits the Crafty Cardmakers challenge, and you can play along as well for the next two weeks. Just follow the instructions above. Meanwhile, don't forget to check out the gift packaging ideas from the rest of the crafty Woodware UK team through the WW blog.
