Dreamweaver: Simply Splendid Spares

Occasionally, it is a great idea to have some simple cards on hand, perfect for those occasions that just "pop" up...birthdays, sympathy, get well, thinking of you, etc. Today's card would be perfect for any of those occasions, as well as the "Thanks" portion of our Dreamweaver challenge this month...Happy HallowThanksMas!

Using a simple background color such as the soft sage as my card base, I then used a contrasting chocolate brown panel to die cut my Leafy Branch. I used the Dreamweaver Deckle Edge Rectangle and the long Friend stencil, to emboss a frame and sentiment on this panel. Using a large stencil brush, and Tsukineko's Gold Delicata ink, I striƩd over the surface top to bottom, and side to side, just catching the raised surface with the gold ink.

I marked the area where the leaf window would be placed on the card base, and using the gold inkpad, I directly inked that surface. I added sprinkles of Stampendous Aged Copper, Mica, and Fresh Green Crushed Glass Glitter over the ink, and heated from underneath until all of the elements were encrusted together.

The brown panel was wrapped with hemp cord, and adhered with foam tape over the card base, allowing all that texture and sparkle to shine from underneath. This card ended up as a birthday card for a friend of my husband, but would work equally well as an everyday card, or Thanksgiving wish. Cut down in size, it could make a great design for place cards at the holiday dinner table.
There is still one more week with the Happy HallowThanksMas challenge for YOU to play along as well. Just link your creations to the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of this post, or on the Dream It Up! blog. Meanwhile, for more inspiration, here is our "B" team:

So beautiful and yet simple. I must try that encrusted jewels technique!! Looks great peeking out of the diecut, but not overly glitzy....just perfect for a more subdued card.
